I am married to Lord Nicholas Shrager, am British and live between the UK and Barbados. My husband and I are entrepreneurs with various business interests in the Caribbean and the United Kingdom. We love to entertain and enjoy meeting interesting people, and hosting meets both of these needs. We also enjoy reading, photography and gardening.
Hi, I'm Anthea Shrager, the owner of The Pool House, Barbados. I joined the forum a few months ago, but never really introduced myself.
I am British by birth but live between Barbados and United Kingdom. I am married to Lord Nicholas Shrager. The Pool House is a one-bedroom cottage, nestled in its own enchanted garden next door to our Barbados residence. We are three minutes walk from the beach and can hear the ocean from the house and garden. The garden attracts tropical birds and butterflies during the day and whistling frogs at night. My husband and I love to entertain and use The Pool House to make and entertain new and interesting friends. We also live showing our guests other aspects of the island which they would never receive if they stayed at a hotel or guest house / apartment.
I accepted the invitation to join the forum a few months ago and like the idea of sharing ideas and helping others with suggestions for their challenges. I am learning from the experiences of others.
So that's me.
Yep, and at night, under the stars. The Pool House has a private garden, fruit trees and a herb garden. We are also creating a secret garden with hidden areas and a water fall. I will share with you all when it is finished. You can hear and see the sea from the cottage and also while having a bath in the garden.
I have been with Booking.com for just over a year now, and I have had great support from the team. I have had to call on four occasions and on each call, the representative on the line was friendly, helpful and my issues were resolved. Anthea at The Pool House, Barbados.
Hi Golfsafarisa, I have had to cancel a booking before as the guest booked for one night and we take bookings for no less than three nights. I contacted Booking.com and requested that they cancel the booking and I also contacted the guest and asked them to either cancel or book for additional nights. Booking.com cancelled the booking. Try contaating Booking.com via their message platform with your issue. Anthea
Hi Colo Orzan, my holiday home is in one country but I collect the money through a registered business that is in another country where the company's bank account is located. It means paying corporation tax etc where the company is registered, but it works for me.
Have you tried calculating your charges to include the tax bill? Guests come prepared to pay the bill quoted by Booking.com and any additional charges may throw may not be expected and may not be in their budget. If you can include it in the quoted rates, that may stop the cancellation. Anthea
Hi Tinamsc, I feel your pain. Did you contact Booking.com to let them know that the guest did not stay. You need to do so immediately so as not to be charged for the booking. Maybe it was the smell of the brand new carpet that was upsetting your guest. Anthea
