I've been using Bookingcom and Airbnb for some years now. What happended to me on Bkg is that somebody booked just one night at our rental house. Something went wrong somehow as our minimum is 6 nights.
Luckly I saw the booking in less than 30 minutes and appologiesed to the client, explaining that we coudln't offer just one night and would he please mind cancelling.
He did cancel with no apparent fuss or bother and got his money back from Bkg. Two years after that I received a recorded delivery letter from the Government Tourist Council in Spain which is where the propery and I live to say that he denunced me (reported me).
I replain in full detail and some months later got a second letter from the Government Tourist Council asking me to contact Bkg and get their explanation. Bkg said all they could do was to confirm fact, that is they refunded the money as quickly as possible.
None of this would have happened if instant book wasn't on.
Thank you very much for your help.
It's simple data and any help I wanted from Bkg but couldn't find a phone number anywhere.
The client in question reported us because we asked him to cancel a booking. For some reason the booking had come through for 1 night. However, we never offer one night as the property is a two storey house. The minimum is 5 or 6 nights.
It seems that what guests give as marks, BKC changes with no explanation. If there is a reason for changing what should be simple maths, both we and holiday makers should know.
To try and get BKC to know our dislike of this new system, please give all relevant posts a thumbs up.
No I didn't get a response. Out of the two accommodations we have with Bkg, one has the 3 yellow boxes and thumbs up and the other only the thumbs up. No idea why as they both seem to perform equally well.
So people on here are saying that if you don't have a VAT number, you don't have to fill anything in, so just ignore it.
However, it irks me that the tab 'Finance' permanently has a red square which means there is something I need to do. So I open it and it shows that Vat Details needs attending to. But I don't have a VAT number, just my NIE number and and the regular payment of tax. And of course it won't accept the NIE number.
For a person who likes to deal with things that need my attention, it's just plain annoying to see red squares.

OK, I need to cancel instant bookings as soon as possible. How do I do it?

I'm hoping it's resolved now.
Thanks again.

I got exactly the same. Hard work to get everything as good as possible and you get a 9!
Totally agree.
I got all 6 categories marked as 10 and an additional category which was also marked as 10.
The overall score was 9. How can that be?
