Janita - when you state “Have a lovely festive season?” - Does this mean no one is looking at our enquiries before Christmas????? I hope that is not the case! That is more than 2 weeks away??
What happens to our Christmas bookings whilst no one at booking.com can find 2 mins to simply unblock us until the backlog is down. How hard is it to unblock until the company is ready to verify?
It doesn’t feel like Christmas due to this.. I can tell you that much!
This is causing a lot of distress. If it was taken seriously Booking.com would ‘unblock’ untiL they are ready to perform verification within the ‘10’ day period. Not block for months on end. One person has claimed it’s taken 200 days so far! How can this be?
We are waiting nearly 8 weeks now.
Janitor - do you seriously this booking.com are doing their best to sort this out? Being told this is constantly the case is obviously wearing a bit thin now. The verification should be a 5 minute phonecall or letter re-post. Or an unblock until the company is ready to do this.
Thanks for replying Sonia. I had wondered if yours had been unblocked but obviously not.
I just don’t understand why they cannot unblock until they verify. Especially those properties that have lots of reviews and escalated multiple times. I don’t understand the root cause - no other agency withholds payments for so long and blocks a property for no apparent reason. Our property location is 100% correct - have followed every guideline. None of it makes sense and apparently we were just ‘randomly’ selected. Surely there needs to be more to it than this?
I am happy to contribute to a legal team to sort this out if enough people contribute. The tourist market has changed since it’s become digitalised but booking.com appear to have grown too fast causing gaps top to bottom in their infrastructure - operationally and contractually.
200 days! Is this really true? If so I am going to have to legally escalate…. which I was hoping not to do. But 200 days - that is definitely worth legally pursuing if that is how long some people have been waiting. (A route I really didn’t want to take but looks like their is no option now if it takes that long!)
27th of September!! Wow that’s ages. That’s a week longer than us! Yes starting to register on others now. (Unfortunately booking.com have a bit of a monopoly here as it’s the app most guests use… though have noticed it’s mostly popular with the older generation, not so much the younger generation). It’s a bit of an insult when you call and are told “we are doing all we can” and “It’s being taken seriously”. If it was taken seriously they would unblock until their backlog is sorted then do the verification when they are ready to do it. Their complaint process just ignores you too. Their processes seem pretty broken internally and have not invested well in them.
I had someone today wanting to book a week in July (they were here last summer). Another previous guest called me asking if I’d stopped bookings as wanted to re-book. We have lost a lot of business as a result which seems wrong when booking.com is a monopoly here and they can easily unblock whilst they sort their issues out.
It should not take 2 months to realise their processes are broken, to re-hire and validate more easy verifications (I.e. properties with reviews already and hosting on other sites) - whilst unblocking in the process. Airbnb and Trip Advisor never block and just solo the verification whilst live. Not sure why booking.com cannot verify whilst live also.
Our property (and payments) have been closed for 6 weeks now. It’s incredibly frustrating. Having read the contract in detail, am now keen to start legal action given clear breach of contract.

Out of interest, how long have you been waiting. We are 7 weeks now….
2 months - wow.

Hi Julian,

Any hints as to what you did to hurry it up?
Kind Regards, Catherine
