Managing your portfolio with GroupConnect

The operations of a single property can be intense, so when you multiply that across a portfolio the need for tools that streamline your business is even greater. Enter GroupConnect

For partners managing a number of accommodations - whether they are based in different neighbourhoods, cities or countries - the practicalities of day-to-day operations take on new complexities and unique challenges.

“A hotel’s rooms all tend to be within the same property and are to an extent all quite similar, making it relatively easy to manage,” says Thibault Masson, Strategic Program Manager at Booking.com. “Multi-property partners however have properties all over a city, country or even the world and often deal with situations where they have to manage contact with the guests remotely. Here, the interactions with guests become even more important - and so there is a real need for more operational time that can be dedicated to these moments.”

Updating simple information like policies or check-in times can be a laborious task when factored across a number of units, and while each property might be unique in character and experience there are some basic operations-based elements that are consistent. If a new cancellation policy was to be implemented across 15 different Extranet accounts, taking approximately four minutes for each property, that’s an hour of your day. However, by setting up the right GroupConnect configuration, this can be done in one action - four minutes for the entire portfolio. And who wouldn’t want an extra 56 minutes back from their day?

Saving time and enhancing operations

Accessible via the Extranet, GroupConnect is a property management tool available to every partner that has a portfolio comprising at least two properties. Here, you can find information on arrivals and departures across the entire portfolio, guest and Booking.com messaging. It’s also the gateway to important dashboards such as GroupAnalytics, which gives an important overview of all the business metrics that contribute to the bigger portfolio perspective. “Partners can filter for different time frames, the different countries of their portfolio as well as different locations. This way they can learn what their top performing properties are and then take actions based on that,” says Masson.

Across the portfolio, GroupConnect Analytics show Pace report and sales statistics for historic bookings to help you plan for the coming months, as well as booking window information. The latter can be used to set promotions for specific periods of time and respond to any trends you might be experiencing. Earlier this year we also made a big change to the GroupConnect homepage dashboard with the addition of key performance indicators drawn from the Analytics, providing a snapshot across ADR, cancellations, stayed room nights, earnings and much more, to help you understand your performance in a quick and digestible way.

Having a central one-stop-shop where you can manage these details from is super important as it enables a more efficient way of working and reduces the time spent on basic but vital activities.

Other dashboards include Recommendations - which provides commercial advice that will help grow your business, whether it’s ways to reduce cancellations or grow revenue - along with Bulk Editing where you can make changes to the set-up of the portfolio from house rules and host profiles to policies and much more. Filtering opportunities also allow you to review the data and make changes with subsets of the portfolio or fine tune at property level.

“GroupConnect can be the starting point for all kinds of properties: guesthouses, B&Bs, apartments and beyond. The characteristics of the properties might be different, but the key information is still needed,” says Masson. “Having a central one-stop-shop where you can manage these details from is super important as it enables a more efficient way of working and reduces the time spent on basic but vital activities.”
