For the LGBTQ+ community, travel in principle and travel in practice are sometimes two very different things, as our most extensive LGBTQ+ research to date shows.
Barriers to inclusive travel still remain, with over half (60%) of LGBTQ+ travellers saying that being part of the community impacts the decisions they make when planning a trip. Here’s what else they had to say:
- We surveyed 5,514 LGBTQ+ travellers from 25 countries about their past experiences, current realities and hopes for a more inclusive travel future
- 82% of travellers have experienced less-than-welcoming or uncomfortable experiences, with 64% saying they have to consider their safety and wellbeing when travelling
- More than half (55%) of LGBTQ+ travellers have faced discrimination, and six in 10 say their safety and wellbeing is a key consideration when choosing a destination
