Calendar connection failed

I noticed today that the calendar at Booking .com did not include the bookings from Airbnb, despite that it says the connection has been updated and completed three hours ago. The bookings from Airbnb took place several months ago, so it has not happened after the update. If I hadn`t seen it, it might have become double bookings! I had to go in to the calendar on Booking.com and close the dates myself.

How could this be, and how can I avoid it to happen again?

Sorry if I post this in a simple way, but I am not familiar with this community system.

Isle of Wight …

A lot of owners have reported this problem - and many of us have had double bookings - you are lucky that you've spotted this now!

The Booking.com system is full of bugs and the calendar sync is broken. Booking.com are not interested in whether your calendar syncs properly or not. They will tell you that calendar sync happens 3 times a day and that calendar sync is a manual process.

Some property owners say that using a channel manager fixes the problem - I don't know and I don't trust Booking.com, so don't trust any data received by channel managers.

The best solution is to block manually. If you get a booking on AirBnB, block manually on Booking.com, and vice versa. It's a pain, but it's easier than dealing with double bookings .....

Hi Margrethe.

I have both AirBnb and BdC. But AirBnb not instant. Problem solved.

If you use other platforms as well, I would recommend a channel manager.

There is a cost in NZ from 80 to 100 dollars per month. It is worth it if you have a lot of guests, or when there is lots of demand.

Channel Manager arrange all the payments on your behalf, and commission payment you can do via Direct Debit.

I kept AirBnb out of the channel manager package, since the channel managers' system  often require a set up with  one price for all.

It is very practical and beneficial to be able to arrange your prices independently from other platforms.

At the moment ABB is winning here, since I lowered my price just enough to see people book.

For the guests, it is a bit more expensive (normally) to book with A. But for your wallet, it is better, since the commission or fee is not that high as BdC.

Of course, anything can change, but this is the latest.

Keep an eye out.

Greetings,

Aaltje B.
