Genius is becoming a more powerful tool

Dear partners,

I want to highlight the extension of the Genius level that’s been announced recently. First of all, here is the summary of the key updates:

Up to 20% more bookings from logged-in Genius customers

To stimulate the demand for our Genius partners on Booking.com, we launched a trial in 2020, which enabled all Booking.com account holders to experience the Genius programme for 7 days. The results showed that this helped the participating partners (who were offered a 10% discount) to drive up to 20% more bookings from these logged-in customers, resulting in a positive ROI.

Gain extra visibility from Genius Level 1

Based on the successful trial we decided to extend the Genius Level 1 offering to guests as soon as they’ve created an account. This should help our partners to capture the attention of a wider audience, attract new bookings and get back faster to growth when demand is returning.

Introducing  Genius Level 3, our most-valuable audience yet

One more Genius Level is being prepared for a launch to customers at the end of this year. We call it “Genius Level 3”. These are the highest-value travelers - those with 15+ bookings in two years. Genius partners can already target these customers by offering a 20% discount. This can help to attract high-value Genius members and receive an extra ranking boost on top of the standard Genius boost. So if you look for more visibility on Booking.com and want to attract high value guests, this is a solution worth considering.

A small but important thing to mention. All our partners will be able to decide whether or not they want to join this change. So you have time to learn more about this solution and how you can take advantage of it.

Let us know in the comments below what you think about the Genius Levels extension.

Shorepark Holi…

So to be clear you want me to give between 10 and 20% discount when we have been closed for almost a year. I don’t think so. Anyone who joined this must be mad

What Genius  does is only encouraging property owners to increase further prices in order to compensate for lost revenue (which is now shifted as Booking.com commission). By doing so the property will be less and less affordable for non-Genius  users. So in the end of the month if you are looking at your reservation statement (to compare % of reservations by Genius vs Non-Genius) and see that 70% are from Genius users you will be mistaken to think that this is driven by "this unique opportunity programme Genius" rather  than making your property less affordable for non-Genius users.

I learned that everybody is a genius nowadays. As soon as you create an account, you are a genius immediatelty. Even if you have never made a booking on Booking.com.

My previous reply seems to have been deleted. I'll try again:

One of your Genius customers was charged a 'completion charge'. There doesn't seem to be such a thing as a completion charge. Why are you charging Genius customers extra money upon check out?

I don't see why I would want to offer discounts when we can get fully booked without discounts ......

Hi Sergei,

Genius lever 3 might seem tempting but if you add to this other discounts like Get away Deals 20% ....you end up to 40 % discount ...is very high especially during COVID period...

Maybe if BDC could lower commission we could afford to add more promotions...

I have joined Genius Programme from the beginning but my prices after deductions get so low that I cannot afford anymore deductions...

Have a nice day!!!

Andria's Guest Flat

Please note that Andria's Guest Flat, Stellenbosch, South Africa does NOT want to give Genius discount. In the end I loose so much money - it is not worthwhile.

Please correct this .

Thank you

Andria Crous

Dear Andria,

Since this is only a Partner Community you have to resend your message request through your Extranet inbox directly to BDC.

Wish you well.
