Online check-in now available

Hi everyone!

We created online check-in so you can streamline your workload by collecting your guests’ information before their arrival, and also share the need-to-knows (like check-in times, key collection, and so on).

You’ll be able to access this in your Connectivity provider’s interface. More on that here: https://partner.booking.com/en-gb/help/channel-manager/bookings/online-check-faqs

As this is a new feature, I have to ask: what do you think about it? Anything I should share with the product team?

At the moment, we use the automated messages to send directions and check-in details to guests. It has all the information they need. The majority of guests phone us up because they haven't seen this information, can't find the property, want to know what time check-in is and so on.

The only information they have is the booking confirmation from Booking.com, with a PIN code (which is irrelevant).

If guests cannot see the automated messages that are sent, do not know how to get to a property, do not know what time check-in is, then how do we know this new "online check-in" will be any better? What has Booking.com done to fix the problems?

The easiest way for us to "streamline our workload" would be for Booking.com to add "Please check your Booking.com inbox for directions and check-in details" to "The Fine Print", which is then shown on the booking confirmation that guests receive and print.

Booking.com used to amend "The Fine Print" to show this, but stopped doing it. It's very inconvenient for both us and guests.

ugh, what a shame....

I saw that title and thought wow what a great idea, then read the rest and was let down by the mis-titled article.

Then the realisation that this will only be for Partners with Channel Manager portals.

What "Online check-in" means to me is :

  1. a mini portal where guest has a short checklist to work through.
  2. Final itinerary of tasks to do, before leaving home
  3. Provide Photo ID, that is checked for readability etc
  4. Provide COVID19 passport
    1. Can be a PCR test result
    2. a doctor note scanned
    3. a first vaccine card stamped
    4. a screenshot of a Digital Cert
  5. Check In How To on arrival / How To Get to Property as google map short link. easy short links to save to phone

"Anything I should share with the product team?"

Yes, another few crates of beer and see what other pointless nonsense you can dream up between you instead of fixing the many bugs and problems with the Booking.com systems

BrookAve

Totally agree with your points. Add to that some countries have different requirements.

e.g. Here we must have copies of the passport I.D. page, Visa stamp and arrival/departure card number. That last one the guest does not have until they are on their last flight entering the country.

That's every Thai property crossed off the list then!

Now add all the C19 requirements and Eh, Ehhhhhhh, nil points.
