Is it possible to change the room that the guest has booked?

Hi, sometimes when I have better rooms unbooked, I like to upgrade my guests and put them in the better room (for the same price).  I then open the original room on airbnb and other sites, but the problem I then have is that the room they had originally booked is closed on booking.com for others to book. Is there anyway in their system for me to change the rooms that the guests have booked and so leave that room available to be booked again?

Good question....my understanding is that it's not possible....but I'd be very keen to know of away round this. It seems madness for guests who book the smallest, cheapest room to stay in there if I have better rooms available to upgrade them into.
Guests are always happier if they think they've had a better deal.

Hello, I upgrade people too. There's a couple of way to do this. Log into your extranet account to update from the tape chart or from the option "adjust rooms to sell". You'll still see the room type originally reserved as "booked" on your extranet account but as long as you know what's going on with your real inventory you should be all good. Hope this helps. LK

Hi Leina'ala thanks for the suggestion, but it does not solve the problem. Basically I want to unblock the original room, so that others can book that if they want. I know that the room is empty but customers on Booking.com don't know so can't book that room. This process is possible on airbnb, so the technology is there, I just don't now why booking.com cant offer this to us. I called them yesterday and got the run around. I've left some feedback for them asking them to give us this option but I think it will need a few of us to ask for this before they will make the effort to bring it into their system.

You dont need to unblock it, just go to extranet and click on rooms to sell and put 2 instead of 1 and people can book it again:)

If you use a channel manager, simply moving the booking from one room to another opens/closes the availability for the rooms.

I just ask the same question on Booking.com.

Any time I have better room available then the one choose by guest, I'm moving reservation to this room.

Frankly speaking it some times doesn't work. Guests are suspicious and do not always trust.

Any way, problem is not so easy even if you have chanel manager. I have booking calendar where I can easily copy or move reservation from room to room. Just 2 clicks.

On Booking calendar I'm adding room and blocking different on. No problem.

The problem is:

with automated mailing where the previous room number is still showing.

room is still syncing with other OTA us booked.

Eventually requires a lot control over your calendar.

Booking definitely should resolve this problem quickly, they encourage us to offer guests upgrades.

Some body mention that is easy to unblock room on AirBnB.

I do not think so. Their reservation made in one room stay there and you can not move reservation to different room. I'm with airbnb for long time and when you have listed each room superatlety each reservation is linked to room reservation was made.

If you have channel manager you need to list every room as separate property.So far nor AirBnB nor Booking does not provide this flexibility.
