Promotions page on BDC

Is anyone else fed up with the Promotions page on BDC.

I would very much like to offer our guests something nice but all I can seem to do is offer our guests discounts!

Anyone else in the same boat?

Why can we not offer extra services?

I would like to offer free greenfees at the local golf club or golf lessons.

I could offer free meals at the local restaurants etc the list of offers is endless.

There are more things to offer than discounts!

We wanted to offer guests a free bottle of Cava via the extranet. BDC said that it was not possible.

Our hotel is part of group that owns and runs over 20 business in the area. Guests who reserve directly with the hotel get over 25 discounts in bars, restaurants and shops in the area. The extranet does not allow us to offer this, or a portion of this, to Booking.com guests.

With millions of individual hotels, each with its unique personality, it would be impossible to have an extranet that caters for all of their unique charms and selling points. Which is sad, as it boils down to only being able to offer discounts, breakast and wifi when so many hotels have so much more to offer to add value to their guests.

Hi hector,

It does tend to be very one sided!

I am sure if we offered BDC more commission they would do something about it!

I understand that BDC is a business but this will not kill trade, but it will entice more people to book rooms over BDC! Or am I wrong?

I'm sure that it would entice more people to reserve rooms, but BDC have to keep a controlable extranet. It would be impossible for them to maintain an extranet that had enough options to suit every single hotel. For example we have a room type that has a view of a wall. There are 7 different view types available on BDC's room names list. A view of a wall is not one of them.

Try telling your guest about the "free greenfees at the local golf club or golf lessons" in another way. Send them a link to your facebook as part their personalised confirmation 'check out our facebook page for free greenfees'.
