Upgraded Preferred Partner Program

What do you think of an idea that a more strict version of Preferred Partner program exists in order to feature even better properties that are part of the preferred program but have even higher level of service? Conditions might be: performance - 90% ; reviews - 90%. They could have a different thumbs up icon and be higher in the search results.
Would you give a higher percentage of commission in order to be in this program? If yes, what commission amount do you think is suitable for this type of program?

Veronika Group,

First of all, it's not feasible for you to sell 90% on BDC, either way, it will be very hard to reach that %.

The review one is easier to reach if your business has the right quality.

Normally, wholesalers charge around 20-35% commission, so for that, they do guarantee to fill an amount of rooms they contract with you. However, for small entities this will not be good as the costs of running the business will be too high compared to the income.

You would also need to make promotions, therefore you can lose up to 30-45% of the final price. Is that really something you want? Or do you want to overcharge your guests by raising prices?

Thuild,

I never mentioned selling 90% on B.com, you must have misread. I was referring to the PERFORMANCE bar and it needed to be >90%. Performance bar indicates how well you perform on the platform, not how much of your rooms was sold on B.com vs. other platforms.

Hi Veronika group,

Interesting topic, but I'm not part of the preferred parner programme at all although I'm looking into it.

For me it's not really such a big priority because there are only two other properties in the area where my property is with my one resort. The other properties have much competition in their areas so I'm considering it for those ones. But as they are quite newly loaded, I will need to check first how they do.

I do think adding Another level to the Preferred Partner Programme is a tad much, it might squash the smaller properties completely? Maybe?

I hope you get more responses though, would be interesting to see the different opinions.

Keep well!

Thanks Veronika,

may I ask you what is the commission (percentage%) when you are in Preferred Partner Program?

Does it (%) apply for reservations made but not executed prior to joining the Program? It should not but just in case to confirm.

Thanks again!

Sincerely,

Bob

Mandicobg,
It is 18% and applies to all reservations made AFTER joining the program.

Good afternoon, I currently reside in Ecuador and I have my two vacation apartments published on Booking.com, but I have not yet found the way to charge the virtual cards.
Could you indicate me a mechanism that is effective? Do you know any chnnel manager that provides the virtual card collection service?
Thank you very much .

Hey Okaycuba

For the virtual credit cards you need to have a card machine which has feature of cardless transaction. Speak with your bank they will help you with the machine though which you can easily get the payments in case of no show or also can collect cancellation charges.

Hope it helped.

At my opinion for a small enterpreneur with only one apartment to rent even Existing Prefered partner program is too much. Commission is 18% + Genius discount 10% and I actualy remain without 28% of the earnings. It might be usefull for biger properties or hotels.

Hey Adagio,

Your statement does make a lot of sense. See you can gyppo it by upping the price significantly so that the 28% you do receive is not a small amount. Not really sure if you want to go that way though?

I've joined the preferred partner programme with one of the bigger resorts now. So far it's quiet. It's only been about a week though, but I'm hoping all the research I've done that states it's a Must Have will be correct.

Keep well.

Hi Leany. Thank you for suggestion but since the competition is growing madly it's impossible to rise price. I'm considering option of geting out as well. Hope it will go better for your place...

Hey there,

Thanks!

I've listed another property which is located close to the sea but has no sea views. I went to check out the area on Booking.com and boy is there a lot of competition! People are renting out their weekends for like R1500.00 which I can't compete with (The value is R8000.00 but I rent it for R4500.00). So if Booking.com ever offers me the preferred partner deal on that property, the answer is a strict no due to the competition in the area. The other properties only have one of two competitors in the area so I'm keeping them on the program.

Hoping it goes well for you also!

A year later, I am curious to hear if everyone's experience with the Preferred Partner Programme (PPP) has been successful. I joined the program a few months after starting the business in late 2017. Booking.com has been a great platform for me, as most months my solo apartment is booked for more than 20 night. My apartment was recently ranked #1 in Kingston, Jamaica in its category 'Vacation rentals' which is absolutely thrilling...along with my 9.9 rating.

However, BC's recent decision to start charging a commission on our additional charges, has me reviewing whether or not I can afford to stay in the PPP, as the additional charges go to paying external costs - they do not come into my pocket.

I AM PARTICULARLY INTERESTED IN KNOWING - has anyone come out of the program and found that their volume of business has changed significantly? I won't cry over lost visibility as long as the consistent volume of business remains the same.

Love to hear from you all!

Warm regards from beautiful Jamaica, Chantal
