Do you also experience issues with guests booking below the Minimum Age requirement?

Recently I have received bookings from people who are 18 and 20 years old, when I have clearly set up the minimum age requirement to be 23 years old.

Do you also experience such issues?

Seem like the guest verification process is a joke.

Best regards,

Hi the Zsolt,

Welcome to the new week!

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but isn't the Age restriction for a Booker quite a new thing?

Can't say I've experienced the issue but I would say the only thing is to Report the guest to booking.com and see if they can then cancel the booking.

Keep well!

Dear Leandri,

From what I remember, I had this available for quite a few months now. Maybe more.
The guests have already stayed. However as you all know, there is an issue with these youngsters and they make a huge mess and break stuff, because it's daddy's money they spend.

Even if they pay everything, it's a hassle.

Cheers,
Zsolt

I guess I'd be more surprised if the guest verification on BDC actually worked.

It therefore seems it's just a visual thing on the property page to ward off younger guests, but technically nothing stopping them from actually making the reservation. Sigh.

Yeah, that's the case here. Like porn sites, are you 18?, click yes or no... duh!

Seriously this has to be a better process. Especially when certain places might be adult only or because of the nature of the establishment, only 23+ year old can stay there.

Hi Zsolt,

Ah I see what you mean yes. It would've been perfect if one asked for an ID nr. You may be able to type in a fake one, but if you pitch up at the property and you have a different ID card then No entrance for you.

I don't see that happening though, privacy laws and identity theft and all considered.

What would you suggest to avoid this?

Do you ask for ID on arrival? You could refuse them entry if they are underage because they breached the T&C's of booking your property.

Hi Angela,

That's currently what we're doing, but it seems really cruel to have people drive so far and be sent home. Normally our receptionists don't know to check the age and let them in for the night.

Granted, I ask for the ID nrs well before the guest arrives at the property. And I check the age. I've had no incidents so far though.

In my case, I knew who's kids they were and if something really bad happened that couldn't be resolved with them, then I'd know on who's door to knock on.

Other than that, I wouldn't accept their stay.
