Pet friendly

Last minute booking guest arrives late in the night. A big van enters my private parking a a huge surprise is in there awaiting for me... Seven large adorable dogs in their cages. I love dogs but seven??? I of course let them stay free of charge for four days. What would you have done if you were in my foot????

Since you named this topic "pet Friendly" and mentioned you love dogs, and in addition to that you accepted them for free, it means you just need to create some policy for future guests... Sorry, future dogs 😊

Go to property, then Policies, and create the rate you charge for pets.

I think it really depends on owner of property, his love to pets, his experience and when it comes to dogs, they might smell, so next guest might feel it. However, it's noticeable in apartment, what if they outside of the house when it's not cold?

Some things are really something new to learn. Child wee in your bed? Most of the time its parents who allowed it. I think its something like this for pets as well.

May I know if your guests had a courtesy at least to notify you that they will be arriving with dogs? Did you receive thank you from them?

Katerinka12 Thank you very much for your helpful suggestions. Actually thats exactly what I did the next morning they left. Pets upon request. No they did not notify me about the dogs they only reasured me that everything will be under control. They thanked me a lot of times and left me an excellent review. They came for a dog show. Most of their dogs won first prizes. They were very nice and very responsible but seven dogs are seven dogs.

Hello!

Can you please share what happened now? How is your place looks and smells after the dogs? From hosts point of view, did you require additional time, efforts and expenses to clean?

Were your neighbors scared of 7 dogs barking? He he. Joking

Katerinka12 No it’s unbelievable but the dogs never barked, the guests called me to check the Studio before checkout and everything was nice and clean without any smell. I gave them
my vacuum cleaner and they vacuumed the whole Studio from ceiling to floor. My neighbors were very surprised seeing 7 dogs going for a walk The guests didn’t leave any filth anywhere although our surroundings is near the forest. So at the end of the day they thanked me once again and left for their country Finland.... I was very lucky after all!!!

Dear M,

We also recently had someone come with one dog (we are not pet friendly property) for a god show, and it won first place of course.

They did ask if they can bring it, we said ok, but the dog needs to stay on the balcony of their room, which it did and it was all fine. As in your case, they left the whole place very clean and everyone was satisfied, also got an excellent review.

Sometimes it's ok to accept such cases, but they can easily turn into something horrible. Proceed with caution.

About kids peeing in the bed. The first thing we did before opening was to ensure that we get a very good impermeable cover for the mattresses. This has saved us from a lot of possible mattress damage. We had a bunch of cases when people were having sex while on periods, then you just walk in and look at that bed like a sacrificial pit, where they sacrificed a goat or something. So yeah, those covers are amazing and they have saved us from thousands of EUR of damages.

Best of luck,

Zsolt - www.thuild.com

Zsolt thanks for your comment. Yes I was lucky but now I know. I also have covers not only for my mattresses but also for my couches since people like doing all kind of things when relaxing in the couches.

I am a pet free listing; however, my friend has been rushed to hospital and landed me with his 3 year old dog.........my guest is on his way on a long flight from Israel, what would happen if he hates animals or is allergic to dogs.I have no way to warn him in advance.

If I were your guest, I would just appreciated if the property will at least inform me that there is a dog and the dog is not dangerous.

Hey everyone,

This is a lively topic!

All of our properties are Not pet friendly, they even banned Birds. Because people would come with Tweety in a cage and complain when the monkeys break into the unit to get to the birdy...

I'm happy things worked out for you, but had they shown up at the resort with 7 dogs they wouldn't make it through the gate. I sometimes think we lose out on interesting experiences (like the ones you all had) but at the end of the day the resort runs just fine without allowing pets.

Plus yes, a lot of people in S.A is quite scared of dogs. As we have large properties, we need to take the mass's well-being into consideration first.

Have a lovely day!
