October Photo Challenge: Your workspace

Last month we asked you to show us your favourite spot at your property and we were blown away by your photos. This month, let’s see the behind-the-scenes space from where you run your business.

Private office? Reception desk? Just a laptop and a comfortable chair? Share a photo of the place where you get things done!

Make sure to post your photo by October 31st. Based on your votes, we'll post the winning photo on November 1st.

Booking.com may use the submitted content for other purposes (e.g. marketing) and that we can also edit, crop, enhance or modify same in a way that we deem fit.

Hiya all,

LOL Joey , not so much about being a woman.. I just don't share personal stuff that easily. I'm very proud of my Batman mug though! Thanks for noticing, although I've noticed that it's difficult to hide geeky-ness... especially when I can tie almost any comment to a movie / movie quote. It's a useless skill to have but it's a fun one!

Loiresongbird - Massive Welcome to you! Thank you for my wishes and I'm happy to hear that you are sticking around. The more variety we have, the more topics we can share. That is an Absolutely stunning workspace, thanks so much for sharing. I like the color, it's very neutral which is probably very calming.

michael beeston , I'm looking forward to seeing your definition of messy :-D I do understand about the data though.

Have a great week forum!

Hi Martina,

As I understand you work in beautiful South Africa.

I just wonder... Why do you need 2 laptops?

Martina Stoecker

Good question Katerinka....

one is for business (to work constantly on bookings, marketing etc.) the other is my private laptop for working on my images ( that's when the monitor behind get's involved as well ...) I am a photographer and at this stage busy with new images of Summerlane for the websites.....

Yes, that's right. I manage the Guesthouse together with my husband Klaus in Wilderness on the famous Garden Route. The view from my "office" leads you over Lake Island to the Outeniqua Mountain range where we - sadly - have terrible wildfires at the moment.

Love that view over the lake! Shame about the fires, are the fire fighting planes and helicopters scooping water from your lake? Great entertainment for the guests despite the circumstances.

Hi fluff,

no - nothing here at the lake ....we pray that our area comes through this summer without fires. Last time we packed up for safety, as houses very close to us burned down. Guests could not arrive, they had to sleep in their car at a sports field through the fire situation in Knysna.

Hey Martina Stoecker ,

Beautiful view!

Our prayers go out to the western cape, I remember those horrible fires a few years back and we are hearing the same type of news on the radio. Hopefully this time it will not take many lives and homes. We are luckily, our resort in Sedgefield was not in so much danger.

Best of luck!

Thank you Leandri for your comment,

The fire took 7 lives again..... a pregnant woman, a man, 2 toddlers and a baby. What a nightmare.

On October the 23rd Nico Heyns died - his helicopter crashed during WOF near Riversdale...... ;-( so sad

Martina, my sincere condolences for the victims of fire.

Just recently we brought this issue up, discussing using a fireplace in the property. If your property is at risk, insurance then is a must. Many will say "it's expensive". Trust me, it's worth of every penny you pay.

Thank you Katerinka....

Yes, absolutely right. A fireplace must be included in the insurance. One needs to find out in the small print of his contract if this is included.

We sometimes stay at accommodations during winter offering the use of their open fire places, where some even have a carpet in front. We always have been taking care of the fires properly, but what happens if .... by accident.....

Martina what a disaster. My very sincere condolences.

Wildfire is a nightmare for us in Greece. This summer more than 80 people have been killed after Greece's worst wildfire in a decade hit the small resort of Mati, 18 miles east of Athens. Its dreadful, so many lives.

Why gosh... and thanks! Definitely something to cheer my day. I hadn't quite been aware of the voting aspect, just the photo 'challenge'. Personally, I loved the scenic views – not sure how much work I’d get done looking at an ocean or mountain vista, but I wouldn’t mind trying…
