Adding payment fees

Dear Community,

is there a way I can add a credit card payment charge in the policy? Our hotel charges 3% for credit card payments at the reception and we've had couple of customers that were upset because they weren''t made aware when making the booking. I've looked in the policy and vat/tax/charges tab and couldn't find a solution. I don't even have any options to add any charges in both tabs

Hi

Simply add it to Fine Print section.

Under property,  view descriptions, edit and submit.

Kind regards

Best is to include it in the advertised price. Even better is to use Payments by Booking.com so that guests pay when they book - this avoids problems with no-shows, fake bookings, cancellations etc - and these are always problems when taking bookings in cash or credit card on Booking.com.

Thanks for your reply. Booking.com does not offer their payment solution in the hotels location right now. We don't want to unnecessarily charge all guests a fee they might not be causing.

Kind regards

You always have the option of using other OTAs like AirBnB, TripAdvisor etc - remember that if you use Booking.com and do not take payments at the time of booking, you will get fake bookings, people won't show up, and you'll have empty rooms and you won't get paid

Few years ago we also charged CC fee.. I do not recommend. Can be frustrating for some guests for sure and you can get some lower scores because of that.

Thank you for your reply. Did you end up including them in the advertised price?

Yes, basicly I just increased my rates on Booking.com. In some aspects it is just not worth "saving" money on. Like CC fees, city tax exluded, cleaning fee,.. Guests are spoiled and really don't like extra charges specially those that don't read well property policies, messages.. And that can happen quite often with BDC guests.
