collecting payment booking.com no help

Booking will not collect prepayment for me. Booking will not collect payment for no shows or cancellations. Booking will not give me access to guests credit card information. Is this normal?

Depends which payment method you selected under your policies in extranet.  Booking.com collects payments only if you have activated feature such as "Payments By Booking.com" (only available in some countries).

I keep saying this - if it's available, use Payments by Booking.com - and then set everything to non-refundable. That will stop fake bookings, and you'll get paid even if guests don't show. If you try to take credit card payments yourself, you risk lots of fake bookings where guests don't pay, don't show up, and you are left with empty rooms and less income.

Non-refundable is the only solution to cancellations...but do guests like that or do they prefer properties that have free cancellation policies???

To have or not to have non-refundable rates, that is the question ???

I have both rates and payments activated payments by BDC.

In my whole area town all properties have only non-refundable rates.  Too many cancellations this year.

Pibomarco is a star with or without the hat!!!

Cheers!!!

Do guests like the non-refundable? We are in the UK and we have 66 million people here. If some don't like the property / policies etc, someone else will. We get the bookings. Guests come and stay and they enjoy their stays. We use strict policies on AirBnb / TripAdvisor etc too, so no cancellation under 60 days prior to arrival etc.

M Adam, just try it and you'll see. Specially if you had too many cancelations and if everyone in your area has a non-refundable that's another indicator why to choose non-refundable rate. My policiy is: If canceled the first night will be charged. If canceled 30days before the arrival, the total will be charged.

I am in France and apparently not eligible for “Payments by Booking.com” so booking.com tells me unspecifically. I have been routinely contacting them about this since I joined in June and I have never gotten the real answer. Every other service person tells me a different story and swears their version is true, which it is never had been. I have many messages from them telling me I am all set to except credit cards, and it is never true. This is my 25th year as an innkeeper/owner; we have a credit card terminal and no fake reservations so far. Insisting on a first nights payment weeds out the no shows.

My neighbor’s place does have booking.com taking bookings for him. He is with Abritel. Is that the magic to get booking.com to collecting payment or allow me access to credit card info.? I am fairly desperate for answers because dealing with the booking.com “problem du jour” has tripled my work time.

Hi Nancy,

It's all happened to us as well.

When guest doesn't show up, we just lost.

When guest canceled after free cancellstion period, we never get cancellation fee.

And this month, a few guest 'believed' they are already charged their credit card, so they stay and left without payment.

We have no permission for access guest credit card details.

And those guest believed it's paid, so we have no way to collect money from them.

We have been asking support to booking.com, but the first reply was 4days later from the guest check out and our email..

And they are saying they can't collect money because we don't use booking.com pay.

That's really ***.

There is no difference who use booking.com pay and not use it.

As 'partner' we pay them proper fee every months.

I really think they shoud give us same support.

The booking.com operators are exist in several countries, and normally reply us in funny time like mid night, because of time difference.

And for same conversation, sometimes get different person reply. So needed to explain same story again...

This is really tiring me. But I want they do proper support for all partners evenly.

And I can see it's not only me, many people having similar problem and struggling.

So we should try until they treat us properly.

Wish you luck!

For anyone having problems with Booking.com .... if Booking.com cannot provide you with the service you need, for example, Payments by Booking.com, stop using Booking.com and use AirBnB/TripAdvisor instead. Booking.com is not the only OTA. The others will bring in the bookings!

Set your payment method policy in extranet accordingly to your needs. If you want to be secured from no-shows, late cancelations, you'll need to collect deposits from the guest directly. I beleive also that "Online Payments by BDC", (by charging Booking's Virtual credit card) guarantees all payments, but you need a POS machine or a 3rd party to be able to charge it.

Isle thanks for your comment. I see your point of view.

My property is not in a touristic place so I am a little sceptical about non-refundable rates. I think it’s the best way to prevent cancellations.

pibomarco I know you are right.  Your suggestions have always been a great help for me...even my bed looks incredible with the yellow pillows you suggested.

Take care..

Gulf Shores 1353

I have been using Booking.com as a host for four years and have added one property each year with a total of four in 2019.

The first unit was in Gulf Shores Alabama the next three in myrtle beach SC.

I collect all rent and fees via credit card processing SQUARE on my first two properties and all was going well and continues to go well.

On my third listing, Booking.com would not allow me to collect rent via SQUARE even though I have two other properties doing so. They forced me to use Payments by Booking.com which is fine but I still have to collect security deposit and I forfeit the control of refunds in case of cancellations. In addition Payments by Booking.com has very little customer service patients and rejects customers and hence my reservation. when dealing with quest issues with inputting card info. they quickly reject and I lose business.

I just listed my fourth property and I am informed "Because we're dedicated to being a safe platform for both customers and partners, we've temporarily disabled non-refundable and prepayment policies. As soon as we can give you access to them, we'll let you know.

So now I get a reservation on my fourth property. On the Booking.com website, I cannot see credit card information and get a message from Booking.com credit card info, i am not allowed to charge a down payment. I have to accept the reservation with nothing securing and get a message" that I would be informed when i am established client, etc etc".

Is it just me or is it becoming harder and harder to list properties on Booking.com or is it because of the condotels in myrtle beach.

Anyone?

I beleive the reason for this is because of scammers out there that want to exploit vournabilty of the system. I think booking.com became so big in all those years, that they implemented some preventive measures for scams such as stealing identities, listing "fake" properties etc..

As far as I know new listings do have some restrictions such as you described. I am not sure, but I think you are able to select under the fine print or under the policies that deposit is required before arrival?

If this feature is not available I guess you'll have to accept only cash for some "short" period of time before all the features will be available to you. It's the proccedure that we need to accept if we want to host on BDC.

If you have a BDC account manager I suggest to contact the manager, sometimes they are able to pull some strings.

Gulf Shores .... yes, we have hassles every time we add a new property on BDC .... it's a battle to get them to add Payments by Booking.com .... we have to go through a lot of messaging and we tell them the property will remain closed on BDC until they add Payments by Booking.com, and we will just use AirBnB / TripAdvisor / HomeAway in the meantime .... BDC eventually set it all up for us .... so keep fighting .... and don't work with cash only .... you'll get bookings that block your calendar but guests won't show up and you'll simply lose money ....
