Good day,

I have joined booking.com recently with my guest house called 6th & 9th Melville (*********).

I fall under Melville, Johannesburg, South Africa. Our standard booking commission paid to Booking.com is 15%.

Is it possible to increase this commission percentage and will it improve my ranking when guests search for guest house/accommodation under Melville, Johannesburg, South Africa?

Welcome to Booking.com! Thank you for your question. As an Account Manager at Booking.com I'm always advising my partners how they can improve their visibility on our platform.

 

Visibility Boosting Programs & Tools:

The Visibility Booster tool can be used to increase your presence in search results. You can attract guests by a specific country or all global regions. This involves a commission increase. The higher the increase, the more visible you'll be on selected dates. You can find this tool in the opportunities tab --> visibility booster

 

You can also improve your ranking by running a promotion. Our ready-made deals are available in the Promotions tab --> Add promotions. These deals include targeted email campaigns, landing pages and extra tagging on the front end of the website. 

 

Our Genius Program also offers long term visibility. Genius targets loyal customers that regularly use Booking.com for their holiday or business trip. It's a closed user group, meaning, only customers that have achieved enough stays and are logged in will have access to the offer (think airline loyalty programs). 

 

The Basics:

I'd also recommend you ensure the foundation blocks of your property listing are set up correctly. Availability is an important element. If your property is not bookable you will not appear in searches and ultimately, receive bookings. You can load availability for up to 16 months in advance on our calendar. To do this, select the Rates & Availability tab --> Calendar. 

 

Quality content is another building block to increasing your visibility. Have a look at your property page score (found in the property tab). Are you up to 100%? Photos, room amenities and property facilities are just a few of the elements which help convert lookers into bookers.
