Cuban Property Wanting to Charge Virtual Credit Cards from Booking,com

Hello

 

Can someone assist me with the procedure to charge Booking.com virtual credit cards?

 

I am manager of a property in Cuba!

This forum was created for the hosts like you. We are not familiar with the rules for virtual credit card payments in Cuba, but we might give you an advise on other matters, host from host.

What is the mechanism for charging any virtual credit cards issues by Booking.com regardless of the business location?

I have researched and I have found two ways of charging the virtual cards:

A website called SmileWallet.com which is no longer processing these virtual cards

I really do not know what to do!

Hi, We have some booking.com virtual credit card problem. We can not collect due to the smile wallet company in Argentina has some legal problem ( holding some money from us ) We will like to have help to find a new company to run Booking VCC from a Cuban property. Please somebody can help us ?

I'm also in Cuba...

I'm just new to Booking.com and I won't accept to have my property live until I'm not sure about the way I will receive my payments. All is very unclear for Cuban Partners.

How can I able to withdraw my fonds from the virtual card? Could this transfer to an account out of Cuba? I have family that is able to receive the payments on my behalf, in Belgium or Spain. Please advice.

Did you succeed in your struggle to arrange your payment method for your property.
I do have the same problem to let Booking.com sent the money to Europe (we live in Holland) or when there is no other solution, to Cuba.
Booking.com talks about the Virtual Credit Card. Are ther reliable partners for this VCC?
Or are there other options we can use. I see yet a lot of casas and houses. Do you know how they arrange it? The client pays cash in the property?

Thank you for your questions and reply.

I'm still brainstorming about booking.com. I have not yet brought my property live because in order to be able to connect to my channel manager I need my main currency to be EUROS and somehow the reply I got after a week of waiting is that they will keep it in USD.

This caused me a lot of discomforts because I'm renting my place through the OTA not given Booking.com any rights to decide on an important aspect as it is my currency.

I sent back the same request just now and again I'm on the waiting list probably until next week.

Once this aspect is clear and my currency it is fit to Euro then I will explore how to charge my card.

If Booking does not agree with my request then I will take away my property from Booking all together because I will totally mistrust the system.

My channel manager sends the rate and the availability to all my listings all at ones then all currencies should be the same in all listings. The only one that differs is Booking.com

Moreover, it is my property, therefore, they should respect my choices or we are starting a partnership with a wrong approach

In Cuba the USD is penalized with 10 %, if I will increase my price 10% it should be for my own benefit not to accommodate Booking.com not to change my currency.

Expedia did the change in 48 hours with no complaints and full understanding.

Will see what happens this week as they also take an ocean of time to reply.

I will try to transfer the VCC to my bank account however to be ready just in case please could you let me know how much is your rate to process my VCC and transfer the money to an EU bank? Thank you

Still, the channel manager should have such a setting.
USD is used because that's the country setting and they will never change it. I had my own Battle with them over currency changes.

Hi Ana, if you get a reaction form Booking, I am interested too. It would be very nice if we could hold the currency to Euro. I wonder if there are other options left. Like let the client pay cash in the house.

Do you have any notice how other owners in cuba arrange it. There must be an other way. I cannot imagine that they all use VCC. cubans are very ´inventive.´ I like that.

It is really rather disturbing if they don't allow us to keep the Euro, because they will disturb seriously our online presence. I'm not sure I will remain in booking.com if they don't change my currency to EURO

The alternative just calculates all that they made us lose and charge it on top of the rate.

No, they will don't let anyone pay cash is all by VCC there are some people that charge the cards and send the money to Cuba they charge a commission, sometimes ridiculous high rates, I can not advise you exactly one specific because it is a very personal desition.

I will let you know when I know more.

Thanks a lot Ana. I don´t really understand why other platforms like Airbnb do have the policy for Cuban hosts for sending money on European bankaccounts and Booking.com is not offeirng this option. Please inform me if you achieve an answer of Booking. We shall ask Cuban owners how they manage with this problem.

The usual and standard answer to my mail at Booking.com. I will be looking for a reliable and cheap VCC and therefore I will ask a 10% higher price for clients.

I will like to inform you that the Bank account details are just informative, Booking.com does not make bank transfers of the reservations that are generated through our platform.

The only method of collecting the reservation money for the property is through the online payments program.

What is Online Payments by Booking.com?

Booking.com online payment is a service provided to members by which Booking.com facilitates payment between the guest and the property.

How does it work:

Customers makes a reservation using their online payment method, Booking.com will charge the customer and property will send virtual credit card with the total amount of the transaction.

Remember you have to leave the commission on the virtual credit card.

Hola Pieter, Thank you for share the reply from booking. They phone me yesterday to insist that since we are in Cuba our main currency have to be USD, I forwarded one screenshot of the Hotel Nacional listing in EURO, anyway is time and energy consuming.

I found some sites that people work with here in Havana, that process the VCC they are just ridiculously expensive if you want those contacts I will pass them on via email and please if you find another share with us.

We still have the kind option offered by our partner in this forum of course however I'm looking for to find one that is already part of the Cuban network.

Guys,

There is no payment processing in Cuba, because you are under embargo for banking processes. That's why you cannot even charge real guest credit cards.

My services are on the table and available for everyone in Cuba. Everyone working with me has been pleased by the flexibility that I offer them.

The Hotel Nacional listing is in EUR because the website can show any currency for the guests, it converts it automatically, however, sending prices to BDC can be only in USD. I'm also fighting the same endless battle with them over our national currency vs EUR.
That will not change, they ignore our requests.

Just move on from these roadblocks, add the extra price to accommodate the costs for dealing with BDC and enjoy receiving the guests.
