I always ask for a security bond of 230 euros, payable by bank transfer 14 days before the start of the reservation. Although the bond is explained on my page and I send an automated message about it as soon as a guest books our place, our latest booking does not want to pay it and has asked if I would take the reservation without the security bond. I said I wouldn't. However, if I cancel the reservation, I will be penalised by Booking.com. Has anyone else had this problem? I wish Booking.com could handle the security bonds, as some other companies do.
