Deposit from Guests

Hello, I am wondering if you can help. I have just had a very bad experience with a direct booking where my house was trashed. I failed to get a deposit and have no come back now as these guys didn't book through any site. Its made me nervous and I am wondering what others do. Can I request a deposit to protect against damages? Do booking.com offer a service whereby a security deposit can be taken in advance and returned once guests check out? Thanks a mil, Sheena


Really sorry to hear about this bad experience.  You can ask for a deposit but booking.com does not do this for you, you have to go to the guest yourself.  Have a search under Help for deposit and it should explain.
