I'm not finding the booking.com experience an easy one. I can't properly describe my property

The booking.com system demands answers to a lot of questions but many of them are inappropriate. So far I have only been able to specify a route to my property from an airport. I believe most people will come by road or possibly by train. I need to add this as narrative. The system generated text is hopelessly wrong and the map shows a completely different location many miles from mine. The nearby attractions are hopelessly wrong, our east midlands property is nowhere near a castle on the west coast of Ireland. This is not going well so far. Right now I feel that booking.com is not my partner, but a hideous control freak making me do things I do not want to, and completely misunderstanding everything I say.

Hi there,

Thanks for the post, sorry to hear about your struggles.

A quick question, is your property verified yet? Because it's impossible for them to mark it somewhere it is not considering their guests will be visiting your property and complain to them if the place is not where it should be. With Booking.com it's super important to ensure you put the correct address in. Maybe even use the Google Maps pin and add that.

Perhaps phone Booking.com and ask them to get you a consultant locally. Then you should be able to communicate what you need.

Don't give up! It's worth it at the end.

Keep well.

Thanks for your reply. I am getting better at managing the booking.com extranet but it still feels as though I am a naughty child trying to get my own way from a controlling parent. I hardly dare say it , but I like the a-i-r-b-n-b interface better, but I seem to need both to fill the place up.

Hi again,

It does take a while to get used to the interface. I had to jump through quite a few fires and did get burned once or twice but I feel like I'm all good now.

Once you have the Interface under control then you will find that you have more time to focus on other things. Like visibility on the website etc.

Glad you are managing it better now, hang in there!

Keep well.

I have the same issue re directions - it can only produce them from the airport - 22 miles away. No one has yet to book who's flying in! Whereas everyone has to find us, we are in a very hidden away, off the beaten track spot (which is the appeal for many), but I am unable to get the final directions out to people other than a message after they have booked. I wonder if it is allowed to put the info on an image and upload it to your image bank?

Hi Davespiceuk,

I have seen some property those who add the photos of there directions, but better you contact booking.com property details support team. but perhaps you can put some road signs of your property name.you can also contact google maps with some videos (if possible) to redirect your place better.

best!

Hi Lahiru

...and thank you for your comment. Indeed I contacted booking.com as my first port of call , and was told the only way to include the information was to send it in a message to guests. Some guests either don't get, or don't look, at their messages. So I have had a number of guests finally find us, who I have sent messages to via booking, com, but they have never seen them. For example this week, two businessmen found us but had not seen any messages as their secretary had booked and messages had gone to her...... Perhaps if (when) a guest cant find us and calls booking.com in a panic, they may look at this?

Hey Davespiceuk ,

You can load an imagine onto your property yes. I think that was what was suggested to me also.

Perhaps you should just do it and let us know if you get banned or not? :-P

Keep well!
