Hi to all, i have been using Booking.com for over a year now, and very satisfied with the service and bookings i get through the site!

We have opened two rooms to guests from all over the world! We love meeting new people, and find it very interesting to liaise with guests from different countries, and made quite a few friends on our venture!

When i started a year ago, i wasn't expecting it to become a fully booked Lodge, and as we travelled a lot, now our travels are less than ever! Best advice i can give, is to block weekends and periods for traveling, one year in advance! That's what i did, and if not for that, we wouldn't have any time of our own!

Glad to be here

Hello, I'm Arra! I am the Marketing Executive of Phenomenal Events Management Services. We are renting out some 1BR apartments here in Dubai, UAE. Our locations are in IMPZ and JLT. We're only starting with a few properties for now but hopefully we would be renting out a few more by later this year or early next year. We had some hiccups on our first month listing on Booking since we're more used to AirBnb but we are working towards getting better at it. We would love to be a part of this community and get some very good tips and insights.

If you ever decide to come to Dubai or know anyone coming to Dubai, please don't hesitate to throw them our way. We would love to have them! :D

Villa Junona Croatia

Hi everybody!

I am Julia, co-owner and general manager of bed &breakfast hotel "Villa Junona" in Baska Voda (Croatia). This is the first season we are working now. There are 20 two-room apartments in the villa. So during Summer we all have a lot of work every day (and every nights sometimes). Being an telecommunication engineer Actually I do not have a lot of experience in hospitality business, so I am learning while working...

Have been reading this forum for about a month and regret that did not find it before I opened the hotel. Now, by the end of Summer I started thinking about how to get guests to Croatia during out of season time.

Any ideas to share?

Hi Julia! I was in the travel business for 7 years based in Crete. Target a niche. What is your usp? Can you offer interesting activities? Historical interest. Local specialties etc. Then target your niche market by placing ads where you will find such people. I run a bnb in beautiful South Wales where there are tons of activities for people who don't care what the weather is. Surfing (wet suits), mountaineering, off road biking, hiking + tons of historical interest. Tree Tops is well located for all of these. Good luck!

Hi

My name Is June and and along with my partner Anne we host Adelaide Hills Stringbark Retreat, a quiet getaway in a bush setting in the Adelaide Hills South Australia. We are close enough to Adelaide to make trips into town easy and are surrounded by great wineries and food trails, bush walks and next door is Warrawong (wildlife) Sanctuary, plenty to see and do.

Biggest issue is the website is quite cumbersome to navigate and there does not seem to be somewhere you can get some form of "instant on line chat assistance" with problems. This kind of feature would be very helpful to newbies getting set up.

We look forward to meeting fellow travelers and sharing our little piece of Paradise!.

Hi everyone - we have a guest house in Cape Town and have received wonderful reviews from nearly all our guests. We have achieved a 9.5 rating on Booking.com which we are so excited about. Recently, however, a guest gave us a most dreadful review on TripAdvisor and I am very concerned that this is going to have a negative impact on our bookings. Does anyone out there know if we can get this post removed? What actions are needed on our part?

Many thanks in advance for any advice. Kind regards, Sarah

Hi Sarah

Its hard not to take negative reviews to heart, particularly when you have recently started a business. Whilst you can not get them removed the good thing about TA is that you get to respond and I suggest you do this (I do to every review) but I would write that response in Word or similar over a couple days and then when you have it to where you like it then post it.

Look for ways to use the negatives in the post as positives. Dont go on the attack as it generally reflects poorly on you but I would address each of the concerns raised, how you might improve on those. We have changed how we make some meals based on feedback and have thanked the people giving us negative reviews on those meals. Use it as an opportunity to promote certain aspects of your business but what ever you do dont make it personal re the guest as that reflects poorly.

EVERY place no matter how good will get negative reviews, its how you respond to those that will have the greatest impact on anyone reading them. When we travel I look at how a place has responded to negative reviews as it gives a really good insight into the business.

Once again dont get despondent about negative reviews, in fact it gives you an opportunity.

Cheers

Pete

Bahriyan very nice idea having holidays in a boat. Although we don’t have houseboats in our country In the summertime many visitors love to rent boats for their holidays sailing to the Greek islands. It’s a very exciting experience.

Hey Bahriyan ,

HOUSE BOAT! That's awesome. Now that's really something. How did you list it on Booking.com if I may ask? Under what category did you put it?

Welcome to the forum, we hope to hear much more of you!

M Adamopoulou - Like a scene out of Mamma Mia? I would loove to do that.

Keep well!

My husband and I have two short-term rental properties on Antigua. Willoughby is in the English Harbour area, it's by the beach and has a pool that's a decent size. It's opposite the Crossroads Drugs Rehab Centre, which is famous, because Eric Clapton donated the proceeds from the auction of his guitars to support the centre. Also, it was a favourite haunt of Whitney Houston.

Marble Hill Villa is in the suburbs of the Antiguan capital, St John's. It has no pool and no seaside view, but it's in a half acre garden, close to some of the north's favourite beaches, not far from the airport, close to some fantastic restaurants, near Cedar Valley golf course and in the area that the government has earmarked for the new Chinese embassy and directly opposite the site of the soon to be built Venezualan embassy.

Willoughby was always intended to be a short-term villa rental, while Marble Hill Villa was for years our long-term rental. We're just learning to cope with two short-term properties at different ends of the island, particularly this week as guests in both venues have checked in on the same day and guests in both venues will check out on the same day. That's hard work.

Hi, my name is Pam; my husband Mark and I own and run Cornerstone in Bettys Bay, Western Cape, South Africa.

We have 2 bedrooms with views over the fresh water lake as well as a sea and mountain views. The Harold Porter Botanical Garden is 2 kilometers away and allows for stunning walks and trails to waterfalls. We have a resident waterfall across the road from the house. The view from our lounge window is the resident waterfall.

This area is popular in the Whale season as well as all year around for nature getaways or simply time-out of the city, which is an hour away from Cornerstone.

We have met many wonderful guests from all over the world.
