Address verification when property address differs from my own

Hello,

I have just set my ad online, attempting to offer a camper to rent at a camping site.

Only today I noticed this address verification topic, apparently the mail with the verification code was sent back in May when I first registered. I didn't expect that, unfortunately.

But now my biggest problem: I am not present on the camping site. We only put the camper there for days when it's rented. Nor am I sure I can receive mail there.

Am I doing something booking.com is not allowing by renting at a site that doesn't "belong to me", is there a way for me to complete the address verification nonetheless?

Any help is very appreciated! :) Thank you!

Cheers Marcela

Hi Marcela

We have self-catering properties that do not have a postal service, so in much the same situation as you - we cannot receive mail with verification codes.

You can message Booking.com asking for Alternative Verification. They will phone you at a time they choose (maybe next week, maybe next year) and you will need to use WiFi to do a video call so they can see you entering the property and show them around. Of course, you may not have WiFi at the property or you may have guests in there from AirBnB etc when they want to call, so this option might not be viable.

The "last resort" option is to get 10 reviews on another OTA such as TripAdvisor or AirBnB. Booking.com will then phone you and ask you to log in to your TripAdvisor / AirBnB accounts and change something like the title - they will watch while you do this. On AirBnB, these changes can take place instantly, but on TripAdvisor, they might take 24-48 hours to take effect. Once they have seen you change something, they will accept that as verification and you can change things back how they should be. Of course, it can take a very long time to get 10 genuine reviews on another OTA .....

Thank you for your suggestions. The calling thing may in principle work, but the "any time they choose" thing is a bit of a showstopper as I am mostly not close to the camper. I could get there in 30 minutes when they call, so maybe that could be arranged with them.

The 10 reviews...we actually do have exactly 10 on airbnb, so this way may be viable. Thank you a lot again! ?

Best regards Marcela

Thank you for your reply!

This possibility has crossed my mind too. but since it'd kind of defeat the purpose of the test, I dismissed it before I even asked :)

Thanks for the tip - I'll see if that can be done is more straightforward ways fail :)

Cheers!
