Double Booking

Hi,

We are new to booking.com and the forum so please excuse any basic errors.

We have one apartment for booking with another on the way but not available yet so we only have the one advertised. Last night (during the night whilst we were asleep) we had 2 bookings for the available room within 10 mins of each other. The first on Air BnB the other on booking.com. It appears that the booking.com took the booking as it was available even though the airbnb came in first. Clearly we could not switch to make unavailable as we were sleeping. We now are looking at having to pay charges for the booking.com cancellation as we haven't another room nor one to swap to. Other booking sites hold the booking for 24hours awaiting confirmation, is this facility available within booking.com? The only advice from the booking.com operator was to manually switch off bookings every night and open again every morning - is this clumbsy route the only solution......

So this is a classic issue, simply do NOT list on more than one OTA, unless you use a Channel Manager service. Its literally that simple, else you end up with double/overbookings .



Its been this way since at least August 2019.

 

As per the T&C you agreed to when you signed up , there is no manual confirmation, once you have your calendar open , a room defined, a rate plan defined and linked; and inventory of 1 or more, its considered bookable.

 

The best thing to do is use the Open/Close Room, to close rooms until you are ready.

 

Its under the same menu.

  1. In the extranet, go to the ‘Inbox’ tab.
  2. Select ‘Booking.com messages’.
  3. Right Pane - Click on ‘See Contact Options’
  4. Choose Account
  5. Now choose Other
  6. Then at bottom , See all contact options, and click Message or Call
  7. As there is no one number for all partners, the number for your nearest BdC Partner Support is then revealed.
