Which works better? Flexible cancellation or strict cancellation? I just changed from flexible to strict because of flaky guests who booked 1-3 months in advance then canceled. I just think it’s not right for guests to do that without a legitimate reason. What do you think? Will my bookings get less?

There is no one solution or definitive answer.
But yes strict, with non refundable prepaid to BdC, works best for most.
