Booking guest numbers

We have had a guest book and arrive today in one of our properties that sleeps 4. the booking is for 6 guests obviously this booking should not have been allowed to be made. We do not have a property that sleeps 6 to offer them. I have offered them a full reund, but this is not a solution to their accomodation need. I have also advised them to contact Booking.com themselves.

Going forward what can be done to ensure that this cannot happen again. The property details specify one double bed and one double sofa bed. this has never changed in the time that the property has been listed on booking.com so it should be imposible to get a booking for more than 4 guests.

As you do not have your profile completed with the link to the listing, I cant see if you set it up as occupancy based rates versus whole unit listing.

Assuming it is a whole unit then you cant do anything.

but if it is occupancy based then you can ask for extra for the extra 2

One thing to consider is maybe they will share the beds or just sleep on couch etc so would it actually matter then ?

all you can really do it insert a note on it into the New Reservation template;

Add a photo with a note on it;
