i am waiting on receiving a letter to apparently put a code in to verify my location,
Hi There i am waiting on a letter to apparently verify my location. in the meantime i have blocked everything, after receiving bookings where payment was really low, apparently reduced because of my restrictions. Another issue is that I am unable to EXPORT the calancer from booking.com to my AIRBNB. so the bookings that did sneak through before i blocked them i have had to just block the dates on the calander of my AIRBNB until this can be resolved. i presume this is connected to my restrictions? I am also struggling to navigate my property and edit the nightly rates. so i am really struggling at the moment. i am hoping when i receive this letter and put whatever pin in and the restrictions are lifted all of the above will become easier, otherwise i will just have to leave booking.com in active. it i can get this sorted properly, then i will undertake to add my other property and sort things out more. thank you Joanne
We too are awaiting for the promised letter (apparently sent out twice). The nuisance is that the rental property is a three-hour round trip for us. I have gone four times in the past month to check for the letter as well as asking that it be re-sent. To date, absolutely nothing.
What to do? By the way, how can we set up a one-to-one link with a human being at Booking.Com?
i am assuming this letter is going to my residential address. if they send it to the holiday rental property it will go no where as they do not have a letter box for the unit. i tried to call a number i found on google for booking.com but it did not work so not sure why, but yes, a personal contact would be great, would resolve all of the issues with some helpful information. i have currently blocked my listing from bookings until this letter arrives and i am released from restricted bookings.
I think that is the problem Joanne. I understand that it is sent to the rental property as a means of ensuring that the property exists and is owned by you.
In our case, no letter has arrived (we have a mailbox in a small apartment block but if Booking has not put our name on the envelope, the poor postman will not know into which box to drop the letter.
But I am suspicious that the letter has never been sent. Sad to say that AirBnB is a lot simpler than Booking!
Yes, I am also with AIRBNB. the initial steps with booking.com were really good, but then it got very complicated. not user friendly and this letter could be the end - there is a manager in unit 4, i can contact her to see if she has received any mail for me. no idea where it will go otherwise and so no point continuing if that is the case. They will lose many clients unless this is resolved somehow.
BTW, I finally managed to send a message to Booking about this issue. I will let you know the response.
That is good to hear, let me know if there is another option or I will have to opt out.
I have found out that unit 4 will keep any mail that turns up so there is hope i will receive this much needed letter from booking.com. will just have to wait and see what happens. i cannot take bookings until i am able to export booking.com calendar and presume i cannot because of restrictions. let me know how you go. much appreciated. Joanne
i have been struggling with this for almost 2 years. booking is the only business UNable to send me a letter to my property. I've even jumped through their complicated hoops for uploading a video... which was a nightmare as they want the street name in the video - which for me is a long drive from the actual building... And now they've been sitting on the video for weeks...
its really just not good enough.
Hi Jonathan thank you for your response. It is sounding pretty hopeless, you are so patient to keep trying for so long. I have not heard from our manager at unit 4 that a letter has arrived yet, and if it does not then i have to decide whether to continue on restricted bookings or just block booking.com out until something is done. i do not have time to watch videos, i just want to receive my letter and get things moving. should be a simple process. But from what you are saying that may not happen!! I do wish you all the best, and hopefully you are also listed with optional booking sites by now. thank you Joanne
we have had this problem for the last 3 years not letter has ever arrived to confirm the address, i have spoken to them at booking but they have done nothing about this to be honest i am seriouly thinking of leaving booking as they are so unhelpful. we had a set of clients steal from us (we do a check as soon as they leave) we rang the clients about the missing items the of course said the knew nothing about it so we contacted booking they sided with the clients so we asked for a damage /theft depoist to be put on out property it took them 3 weeks and several phone calls and emails for them to do the job that they take 17% for really not happy with the service we get from them.
So, some good news then the ridiculous news (but no bad!).
After the fourth time of requesting, the letter finally arrived (from Malta, no less) in July. The magic code was there for us. Hoorah!
Like a good boy, I followed the instructions on the letter but (sacre bleu mes enfants) there was no longer the place to enter the magic code.
Another message sent to Booking and you will never guess their reply, that I am sure ...
"Booking no longer requires such a confirmation of address".
Why have I lost six months chasing the friggin code?
Wow!! So if that is the case the word RESTRICTIONS should be removed from by Calender, so i will go and have a look. That sounds hilarious but unfortunately does not say much for bookin.com. i will continue on the journey :-) Thank you for your story, good to see some humor despite your ordeal.
