My outstanding listing
My guests whatever time of the day or night enter my Studio are overwhelmed with the magnificent view they face and their admiration can’t be hide. Is there anything you’re proud of in your listing? Maybe a review that has made you especially happy? Let us know.

I will let the screenshot speak for itself. The same guest stayed twice one night after the other, so that's why there were 2 reviews, but it definitely made my whole month great. Amazing person to have as a guest.

That's really great! It tells me two things, you are proud of your property AND your guests give you feedback! This is something you can use. Make it a photo oppertunity. Have a little sign that guests can hold up with your property name, and social tags, near the amazing view. Your guests would love that and it will be free marketing for you!
There are a few reviews on the properties where they mention names of colleauges whom I know and love. I also know that the people who get mentioned works really hard but also has a natural talent for what they do. So it's not like they work specifically for the good reviews. It's heart warming when I see those and I love forwarding them to the correct people.

After lots of mentions of the dreaded anonymous reviews and unfair ones, isn't it great to see some positive stuff here as well.
It's always heartening to receive a string of "10" reviews but extra special when the guest really expounds lyrically. Well done!

It is so good to have a beautiful property with a magnificent view. We have a backpackers lodge with nothing magnificent about the view or the building but we are very proud that we have had many reviews with a score of 10. Our motto is clean and friendly and we are lucky to mingle with guests from all over the world. Their stories are fascinating. I would like to give our guests a 10 score.
Wendy crews clean and frienly is highly appreciated by guests and its a must for best hospitality. I'm just so lucky that I live in such a nice country .

wendy crews , congrats on the good feedback! Here is a question, the type of guests that you receive are normally quite laid back right? When I go to a backpacker, I normally expect a very simple (semi clean) space to just sleep. So going above and beyond to create a Clean and Friendly backpackers is quite an achievement! It's a very nice niche you have.
Aitsa Nicoline , well done well done! With many competitors in your area, you must be very passionate and hard working to get reviews like that. We have resorts in the South Coast and Western Cape, and both our "sea" properties are competing with people who rent out their little vacation flat for next to nothing. If I could just get more people to our properties they will also write nice reviews, but those Prices! Anyway, really well done!

Wendy well done it must be hard work,I find laundry and utilities the biggest expense I therefore do not allow guests to use my washing machine there is a self service laundrette for 5£ very near us.Do you find backpackers wanting to do loads of washing during a one night stay?

We get a lot of freedom campers come in and do a lot of cooking and washing in one night. The washing machines are coin operated but we are forever having to fix them or buy new ones. Guests will over pack the machine so they do not have to pay for two loads. We do not have a lot of rain here so washing will dry very well outdoors. The guests will not pay for the dryer on a rainy day and I often find that they are trying to dry it in the bedrooms. Yuck, I put a stop to that

Thank you for your comments. Yes it is very hard work the the reward is happy guests who usually stay longer than the booked. I like to create at atmosphere like a home as some of the travelers are so young that they need to relax and not worry every now and then

Wendy, the washing machine and dryer dilemma could be solved simply by making the pricing for using them for kg of laundry. That's how we have it and it works fine. Of course we are a very different type of unit.
I find that when you precisely limit something to a price/unit then the guests know what they're getting into and you also have not much to worry about.
Of course this means that you need to have someone check this part and put the laundry in for them, but maybe this could become a service that makes you some small profit.

wendy crews , that's quite a strange struggle according to me. If ever I go hiking or whatever and I stay at a backpackers, I always overpack with clothes because I know that I'm going to get dirty. I wouldn't assume that I would have the energy to do washing. Granted, it's a very nice-to-have, but do you feel like you can go without it? Zsolt has given a good solution though but if that doesn't work, woudl you be losing out if you didn't have the washing machines?
Just thinking out loud here.
Just to add more info.
The supplier for your toiletries and accessories should have laundry bags, which come in specific sizes for which you can make a fixed price. 1 bag = X amount of money, therefore whenever they need their laundry done, they just put it in those bags. Simple and efficient.
You always need to learn from the big hotels because they have figured out most of the things tens of years ago.

Big and small hotels here use one of two systems for their guests, rates per item or rates per Kg. We use the per kg system.
It's accurate and finite. x-price per kilo for wash and dry, z-price per kilo for wash,dry and press.
Zsolt that’s amazing about the size of the laundry bag although I don’t charge for laundry for the time being but maybe in the future I will. Wonderful idea thanks again for your suggestions.
