Possible double booking
I have just received a phone call from a guest who booked with me. We have exchanged emails and it seems they are booked into another property. I have now missed out on 3 night's accommodation. Has this happened to anyone else? Not happy! Claire
Let me get this right.
Your guest makes a reservation at your place, then he stays at another place?
This is considered a no show, not really a double booking.
A double booking would be: 1 guest reserves your place, then another for the same period, the same place. Now you need to accommodate 2 reservations that overlap. That is a double booking or overbooking in other words.

You're right. In this case it is not word about double booking. I have experience with double booking and booking on two different places. I have only one apartment in our house which we rent. Double booking with only one apartment was my mistake because on date which is booked I add information that we are opened. My mistake which I have to pay and then I learn a lot about that problem. But also a lot of tourists are making reservation on 2 places to calculate or see which place will be better for them and only problems for us. But this is normal to have problem in this job. Very helpful and interesting topic for me, personally, and I hope for the other guests.
Thanks a lot.
This is clearly a no show as stated before and you are entitled to the money for holding the room. Alternatively you could offer to change the dates for the client if they would like to return to your location.
