Host should to be able to instantly cancel a booking

As a host why can't I cancel a booking directly. I recently had a booking that was not compliant with our booking requirements and was not able to cancel this booking. Therefore lost the availability to accept another booking. Apparently after contacting Booking.com trying to get the booking cancelled I was advised that the booking was made via a Booking.com partner and Booking.com would have to contact the partner who in turn would have to contact the booker. I was not notified that the booking had or had not been cancelled until a week later when I tried to check the bookers credit card details. It is not right that a booker can book but the host can't cancel the booking. There needs to be an instant booking cancellation available to the host.

Yes but that is not entirely true.

and yes you did agree to auto confirmed bookings before and when you signed up as per the videos and documentation on here about  , How It Works.

 

There will never be an instance cancel option, but there is a process for multiple scenarios for cancelling, you just have to learn about them.

 

Example below works for most cases.

 

However if the affliate/member network such as Agoda accepts a booking, it too is subject to the same. but may take longer to get a response.

 

 


Quick Guide :

  • Open the reservation details page  
  • On right pane click Request Cancel  
  • If you actually want to agree to 100% refund then just select OPTION 2.  
  • BdC System will notifi Guest  
  • Guest must then click on a confirmation link in the notification.  
  • Once confirmed System if prepaid to BdC, will process a 100% refund back to their payment source, within 10 days.

 

Literally that simple.

 

The only typical time you cannot use this, is when the Request Cancel is greyed out.

 

That is usually because of :

  • Too close to check-in date /time
  • After check-out date or check -in.

 

Else phone BdC Support if the guest does not action the notification after 3-5 days.

 

 

Side Note: if you enable Deposits, and they do not pay the deposit within X hours or x days, you can use option 1 on the Request Cancel to void the booking. Then phone BdCsupport when its very close to check in date and they will manually void it for you.
