A booking cost is greater than the advertised calendar cost

I have recently taken a booking for 2 nights and the total charged to the guests is greater than the advertised cost. My understanding was that booking.com recover any charges or commission from me, and do not add this to the costs the guest sees in the booking calendar? Any suggestions?
