Double booking
Booking.com confirmed 2 bookings for the same weekend (*** & ***) on instant booking - I checked the 2 booking numbers and they are both linked to ***. I can now not find ***s name under 'search', but he has proof of payment (which, incidentally is for 2 people and not 4, which he booked for). What can I do?
Not a lot because booking.com will find some way of making the double booking your fault, which it plainly isn't

In 99% of the time it is your fault, why?
BdC dont actually confirm bookings at all, what really happens is YOUR calendar availability based on how YOU config it shows availability.
So if for example you made the mistake of trying to sync it with another OTA, and NOT use a 3rd p[arty Channel Manager server , then this will happen.
I'm spelling it out clearly like this to be concise and succinct, nothing else.
The other 1% , rarely happens where a system error occurs, and BdC acknowledge its their mistake.
I cant stress this enough make sure everything is correctly setup; get BdC Support to review it .
If you decide to use say 2 OTA , BdC and AirBnb, then you must manually block the ir other, if not using a CM.
e.g. Syncbnb; beds24 ;cloudbeds
Above sounds slightly different in that one of 2 people may have clicked checkout twice, would that be fair to say?
either way if you need to change it, cancel it, I would actually sterr them to their account, and have them see if their is 2 bookings for same dates, then they can initiate cancelation on one of them or contact customer support.
worst case you can phone partner support to do it, but it is always better to get the guest to initiate it
