New payments by booking.com charge of 2.1%
Does anyone else feel that the new charge of 2.1% for being a part of the payments by booking.com is not right?
We already pay commission on all of our bookings and now we are getting more charges added.
Yes - and the insistance on discounting - and many other things. All you can do is increase your pricing so that you maintain your payout amounts and use AirBnB / TripAdvisor etc to get bookings from elsewhere.
Well, I´m thinking cancel my "payments trough BDC" and start to charge the guests directly. There are several options in the market to get one of those devices or talk with your bank to see if they have more information.
Taking cards yourself carries a lot of risk of cancellations (and you still have to pay transaction fees), no shows (which leave you with empty rooms and no money) and fraud (which can leave you out of pocket)
The best thing is to use AirBnB / TripAdvisor / HomeAway. Get some good reviews on each to boost your bookings through them. Increase your pricing on Booking.com to cover the fees so that you get the same payout as you would through AirBnB. Some people will still book on Booking.com, even if they're paying 50% more than they would through AirBnB.
Well, I particularly already work with the other platforms, we are even Superhost on Airbnb but we cannot deny that BDC moves a lot of reservations and at the moment they are a monster in the holiday business, that's why I currently think they have left the partners abandoned and they can apply the commissions they want and those who disagree, little or nothing can do.
I myself have an unpaid bill since August and nobody explains anything to me or respond to emails or calls, this is simply embarrassing, and says a lot about a company like BDC.
Completely agree that the only way is to increase my pricing on BDC, and try to push bookings through other agents. I also use expedia for bookings, and although they are not the best either, when it comes to payments, I send them an invoice once the customer has checked out, and then the payment is transferred to my bank within 7 days, and at no extra cost.
Unfortunately my small business is in a little island in Thailand, and AirBnB is not allowed here, so I have to use major OTAs if I want to get bookings.
Its not right that because they are a massive company they can treat their valued customers like this. The charges are now becoming ridiculous.......small businesses are not going to thrive if they keep this up.
They charge standard 15% commission, but if you want to be more visible on the website, then you pay more some people pay nearly 30% commission.
Then they push you to give discounts and promotions of at least 10% to encourage more bookings......when they are being paid to promote you property already, so we lose more money, and now they want to take even more.
I have really no option but to stick with the payments by BDC as the other option of paying the invoice at the bank every month is just not a feasible option for me, the nearest bank is miles away!!
We are being totally abandoned and not listened to at all!
yes, it is not right. We've already pay 17% with booking Vs 3.5-5% with Airbnb, these additional charges that booking claim to: "facilitate the payment process, and you cover the bank's" , have no sense....
