Payment without credit card

Hello all,

I am new here in  booking.com. 

We have our first booking from guests. So far so good ! :-) As we are private owners, not enterprise, we could only choose the cash payment.

But how does this work now ? The guest pays us on arrival ? If that is correct, how does it work if they don't show up ? (<14 days before arrival, they have to pay full price)

For about the 6th or 7th time this week .... you need to set up Payments by Booking.com

If you do not take payments at the time of booking, then you are taking a very big risk of guests not showing up - meanwhile, they've blocked your calendar and stopped you getting genuine bookings.

You need to send a message to Booking.com via your Extranet and ask them to set up Payments by Booking.com - guests can then pay online at the time of booking, just the same as they do with AirBnB / TripAdvisor etc.

If they agree, you can go live - be aware that Booking.com will not collect damage deposits for you like with AirBnB/TripAdvisor etc - I've posted a partial solution for that many times ....

Booking.com may refuse to allow you to take payments via Payments by Booking.com and may tell you to take cash only. If so, keep your property closed on Booking.com and just use AirBnB / TripAdvisor / HomeAway instead. But don't give up, keep asking Booking.com to allow you to take online payments.

Does this mean the guest paid via booking already ?

Thanks for your answer.....and sorry to annoy you with this 6th or 7th same question !

I set up a payment method already (or at least asked to set it up) before I got this reservation . Now it states here "RECEIVED". Does it mean Booking received the payment from the guest ?

...and what serves the drop down menu Payment status below that ?
