Resort fee v/s Tax

Our government requires a so-called TOURIST TAX of 0.68 Euro per person per night.
As of recently Booking staff insists that is a Resort Fee and must be included under the commissionable amount. Isn't paying commission on taxes illegal? Is anyone else having this problem?

I am no resprt and charge no resort fee. I just offer an apartment. Explaining to them that I want to keep the tax separate is to no avail. I have wasted so much time trying to reason with these people.

Tax should be a separate charge, but presented as such to the guest at booking.

Any advice?

Contact BDC via extranet and let them know that you need to add City tax of 0,68€ per person per day under Extranet -> Property -> VAT/TAX/Charges

If you don't want this tax to be commissioned, request that tax to be excluded from the rate, and guest must pay city tax directly to you at the property.

My taxes are all included for some time now, so there is a possiblity under the new conditions that tax must be included. I am not sure about that.

I have, more than 10 times, and they mess it up each time. They do not let me do it and each one of them goes in and messes up my account totally. I have spent so much time on this, it is unbelievable. Do they train these people?

And in our country it is not called city tax... so they cannot expect us to read their minds

In my country is also called tourist tax, but here in the extranet it is showing as city tax (it is paid to the local city so it makes sense somehow).

Yes, but staff should be trained to recognize what we mean when we say tourist tax
