Before Signing up with Booking, Beware
I am a Property Manager managing over 5 listings. We tried Booking.com as a new platform but now feel we have to warn others not to make the same mistake.
Booking, com has refused to pay out the money from the bookings we had with them, (Over $1600 AUD) .
We have been given the excuse of not being verified, not having a bank account that handles overseas transactions, even though we get the money from Airbnb and Homeaway, after 2-3 days.
Everything on booking, com, is designed for the customer but the host gets high fees and Late (If ever) payments in return.
We even switched Bank accounts, and YES, both large International Banks, that handle Overseas transactions.
We had to cancel over 20 reservations because we weren't getting paid, so before you sign up, read some similar post from Host that have these issues with them.
not only is the platform very hard to work with, also the lack of screening guest, cancellations and the High Fees was the reason for us to pass this platform.
Hi
Sorry to hear.
It seems experiences vary by country/region and their restrictions for those locations.
As well as assumptions, misconceptions, and misunderstanding of how it all works.
There is plenty to read at first when starting out, and some just do not have the patience and just want someone else to do it for them , proxy.
These are all the things I have seen and experiences myself since starting, and hindsight is a funny thing.
6 months later I have evolved, adapted, tweaked setup, and promotions etc. its just how it works.
But if you really stop and think about current standards and how things like Anti Money laundering policies are becoming common place, it actually makes perfect sense why they must verify the location and have a bank account in same country the property.
Yes I know its 2020 and banking has evolved along with Identity Authentication systems, just seems BdC is playing catch up and needs to evolve and adopt the newer tech to make this little issues obsolete.
Kind Regards
