Hi,
in Germany we have two different kinds of value added tax Number.
1. Value added tax as private persons (Mehrwertsteuer)
2. value added tax for companies. (Umsatzsteuer)
You are asking for VAT for companies. VAT is transated as Umsatzsteuer.
Do I really need a VAT for companies or do you need my private VAT?

in general you can just use the personal number typically PPSN aka social welfare number
in form DE1234567L for eu countries
