VAT registration in Spain
I am not VAT registered as I offer self catering accommodation with no other services. Why am I asked to give Booking my VAT registration details?

This is the important phrase in respect of Spain, like yourself we provide "no other services." therefore are not required to register for IVA.

Problem is this is not a box we can tick...only answer is "YES" So guess we'll just have to hang in there until someone adds another box...
Same here! Have you been able to contact Booking about this issue?
Hi Anna-Lena, In other fora people have tried and ended up waiting on the phone for 40 mins. Not going to do that, am assuming that if there are enough of us (those who will not be able to reply with "YES") they will eventually realise and make the appropriate changes. ..
Indeed I scrolled down a bit as I saw many of you have the same problem. My phone is still busy on trying to reach Booking, but I don't think I will reach them at all... I still had also no answer on my question that I sended on the Extranet. Why they ask now 17% commission instead of 15% without any announcement. Still waiting for an answer on that one from end of June... Bad service if you ask me for the big commission they ask... it seems to be impossible to reach them by phone or messages... And we as hosts are dependent on them...
And now my call is finished by Booking... technical problem... they have to close the phone call... unbelievable...
Just checked it, they let me wait for 1 hour!!! And then kicked me off...

Correct. Same here. I spoke to my gestoría (tax managment) about it and I don't need a VAT in Spain because I rent an apartment in my own regular home. So it is not considered to be a professional renting, no VAT. I hope Booking will find out soon, as I am expecting my first payment.
I put ES + my NIE and it was accepted. So, in this format ESY1111111A

That honestly is incorrect. Booking has not applied the local laws and tax laws for Spain in their business model.
Yes, it works. I tried it too following someone's advice on this forum. Finally, the red tag on the VAT issue has gone away!
