Why do guests become NO SHOWS/ Fraudulent activity?
Hello, I’ve been reading other threads about fraudulent guests booking and no-show because no credit card details have been taken. I’ve had 5 now but I can’t understand what the fraudulent angle is for someone trying to book accommodation? Can someone please share experiences with regards to be conned as a host. It’s very frustrating preparing property, blocking dates and guests don’t arrive!
They book then decide to stay somewhere else! Get on the Airbnb platform almost no problems
Thank you Mike. I’m a rather suspicious person and when someone books 6 night stay last minute without payment and limited contact I feel like it’s dodgy? However I don’t understand the scam or if it’s fraudulent what are they trying to achieve? Thanks for the reply.
We get it all the time too mate. I don't think any scam is involved, just really bad mannered people. I only open to Booking.com a few days at a time now. The bulk of our business is through Airbnb - problem free
Thanks Mike, I’m just about to go meet guests to let them in but they are not answer texts or phone calls!!! They don’t have the address which is concerning. We have already paid cleaner $110 and $77 in groceries. I will keep you posted. Thanks Rob
Hey Mike, so the guests called and confirmed they would be arriving about 6.30-6.40pm so I went to property and got it all ready, lights and heating on etc. 7.30 and nothing. I tried calling them 3 times no answer. I just don’t understand, I’ve not had 1 single positive experiences with booking.com as a host!!! However I just can’t work out this guest. What a fat waste of time and money. I’m going to cancel all 3 listings with bookin.com. Thanks for listening.
