Basic Discount
I can't understand (and nobody helped me till now) how to apply a basic discount always working easily, as for any , I reapeat, ANY other booking engine.
I mean this:
- I have my standar rate, normally no minimum stay required;
- I want to apply a discount of X% when minimum stay is Y nights ... And till here all is ok: I create a promotion and seems that the problem is solved... BUT...
BUT:
If for some days I want to sell the room for minimum stay Z nights, where Z is > than Y , I can change the minimum stay in the standard rate but the minimum stay in the promotion wins VS the minimum stay in the standard rate;
SO THAT FOR Example:
Normally MIMIMUS STAY 1 Night
I want a discount of 5% for MIN STAY 2 Nights...
BUT I want that in August MINIMU STAY IS 7 Nights...
THIS Means that nobody can reserve for 2 nights! And this means obiouvsly that there should be a discount of 5% for this reservation with MIN STAY 7 nights...
AND PAY ATTENTION; I don't want a new rate ... I want only to change, in my channel manager the minimum stay for the standard; all the other things should to work automatically as for all other OTA (expedia, airbnb, booking engine on my website ecc ecc ecc )
SEEMS UNBELIVEBLE BUT IS NOT POSSIBLE!
10 years ago this basic functionality was perfectly working ; after 2/3 years (I don't remember exactly) booking.com change their system and it was necessary to create different rate and change every time all this rates ...
This is not possible in my opinion...
First: I compare. Booking in the worst;
Second: I have 9 Apts to manage... Every time only booking requires to change all the different plan rates all the other from my channe manger, iReservation, are fast, and easy.
So, the problem is that booking is a big owen but the cake is like ***, only for this I cant eat; from other owens (OTA/booking engine -I had 5 booking engine in my carrer)I eat and it is good and fast cooked...
I work with on booking.com since 2012... And you? How many apts/hotels do you have to manage?
Anyway I know exactly how booking works but is something unbeliveble that is not possible to manage automatically the discounts.
Hi there,
Thanks for reaching out.
It would be best to set up two different promotions for the periods that you are targeting.
The first promotion would offer a 5% discount if staying for a minimum of 2 nights. Be sure to exclude August by removing these book dates. To do this, you will hold the CTRL key + click on each date you want to exclude.
The second promotion will then focus on the month of August. You can set this up by applying the 5% discount and a 7 night minimum.
During peak or holiday seasons, you may want to apply the same deal for multiple properties or your entire property portfolio. To do this, you need to have an extranet group account. If you manage multiple properties and would like to set up a group extranet account, please contact us via your extranet inbox and we’ll help you do this.
If you have a group extranet account, here’s how to set up the same deal for multiple properties:

Yes, ok, I know this (and I am using this from years) but I normally change minimum stay many times (depending on availability, forecast, my life...) so I need something that, when I change minimum stay in the standard rate is automatic (I repeat, as in Airbnb, in all Expedia group, in all booking engine I tried).
Not something difficult, and for sure something the allbprofessional hosts need.
Hi there,
For the promotion, you can choose to match to a selected rate plan. In saying this, if there is no minimum length of stay, then the promotion will be offered.
If you set up a promotion with a minimum length of stay, then it will override the minimum length of stay that you have indicated in the calendar. This method may be more suitable for you as you can indicate certain periods where the discount is available.

Could you please write me an example? Thanks
Hi Partner,
For example, if you put a minimum length of stay for your Standard Rate (in the calendar) and set up a promotion to "match to selected rate plan" then the promotion will follow the restriction that you have set in the Calendar. If the calendar has a 3 night minimum, then the promotion will also be bookable when looking for 3 nights. If there calendar has no minimum length of stay, then the promotion will be bookable no matter how many nights are being searched.
For the second part, if you set up a promotion with a minimum length of stay, this will have priority over any length of stay restrictions you put directly in the calendar/rate plan. In this example, say your rate plan has a minimum length of stay of 7 nights. You then set up a promotion for a minimum of 2 nights. Guests will be able to book the property if they stay at least 2 nights.
To achieve what you are looking for, I would suggest setting up 2 different promotions that offer different length of stay requirements.

Ok, this is exactly what I am using but is not fine. There are too many steps to do in the calendar When I need to change (every day) something. I find unbelievable that booking has not an automatic basic discount, based on standard rate, as all the others
