Can a host cancel a booking

I was wondering if anyone has experience of what happens when a host needs to cancel one or more bookings for personal reasons. What procedures does one follow and what are the implications?

HI Olga Leondaris

Of course if you have no choice and or due to covid19 and or where the guest is coming from and you do not want increase the risk, you can.

I would recommend you message the guest and explain simply at a high-level you must cancel their booking due to covid19. and that the next email they receive will be for them to action by click agree.

Once you send that message from the Reservation details page, now click on Request Cancellation, and choose option 2.

The system will send the cancellation email to them and once they agree it will be marked cancelled.

At this point if they prepaid via BdC they will handle the full refund.

If you took payment via VCC ordirect , then you need to reverse that once the booking is confirmed cancelled in the Extranet.

Kind Regards

Dear BrookAve,

What is confusing is the option 2 is "Guest has requested cancellation". However, in our case I (as a host) need a cancelation similiar to Olga Leondaris. There should be 3 option stating that "Host has requested cancellation". I also have serious health problems and i do not need any of my customers pay cancellation money. Would you please confirm me that there will be no cancellation penalty for the guests if i select option 2 due to my serious health problems. Kind Regards.

Hi

I've just had a similar situation regarding this, where I needed to cancel the guests booking due to an issue with the en-suite in the room that had been booked

BdC only offer the option to cancel due to non payment or the guest wants to cancel, and the onus is on the owner to organise an alternative place to stay or the owner is penalised.

In the end I sent a message to the person who had made the booking to explain the situation and he cancelled the booking, which meant we were not penalised for the cancellation

If I choose the secon option for cancelling the booking and my transaction is non-refundable, will they still get a refund?
