Connecting guests with your local community
When your guests arrive, what do you do to help them as local tourists?
I have a rack of free tourist brochures and a framed wall map of the area to help my guests plan their day's adventures (see below photo). Our regional tourism office gives us these brochures for free.
I also print a list of local restaurants (with addresses and phone numbers for dining reservations) and major tourist attractions. I am often thanked by our guests for this free take-away printed list. See lists below.
Unlike a big city, our two-level house is in a semi-remote mountain region with fewer local attractions to find online. That is why we provide our guests with these free tourist brochures, wall map and list of local restaurants and fun activities.
Some hosts make deals for their guests to receive discounts with business owners of local restaurants, gift shops and museums.
