Genius Guests NOT SHOWING UP

Hi, all.  I have had genius guests not showing or answering messages sent before arrival date.  My question is:  how is it possible that BK grants the genius status to a guest that is a no-show or who doesn't even dare to answer any of the messages sent to them??
