Issue

In many bookings, we get this default contact number and address: ***, 

30 08 Prudential Tower, 19 Cecil St bangkok N

So, we are unable to contact the guests.  Could you please look into it and rectify the same please.

Welcome Kidim,

 

This is the partner community and not direct line to BdC Support, so they will never see any of this.

 

  • Simple trick is message them all one simple message asking for a copy of a government issued Photo ID showing all edges, must be in focus ,and readable.
  • Note also ask for PhotoID for all guests if the count of Guest is > 1.
  • In other words all guests must be named and PhotoID provided.
  •  
  • Set a Time limit to respond so when they do not respond in 48 hours with it you will void the booking.
  • Then open each reservation details page and click on cancel and choose the first option. Nice and simple.

Reservation from the same address (Bangkok), and no response to emails.

The listed phone number is unavailable.

 

What is your recommendation for last minute reservation with cash payment on site at arrival.

if you allow last minute bookings and no not take prepayment then you are accepting a risk of No Show and no cancel fee.

I was just reading your response as I had the same kind of booking yesterday and it looked suspicious. How do I ask for government issued ID? Is there somewhere on the site to do this or do I just verbally ask in a message? Also the same with setting a time limit for responses. Is there a check box somewhere to set these parameters or do I just have to ask them myself. I have my property on another platform and on that one guests cannot book without verifying a government ID

These bookings are from Agoda via Booking.com.  Booking.com will claim it is from a partner and they have no control over how the booking is done.  (But Agoda IS owned by the parent company of Booking.com)  However, on one occasion, when I threatened to cancel the booking immediately, they did manage to find enough detail to tell the guest to phone me to confirm their booking.  However, the majority of these bookings have never turned up for me.  If I happened to be busy, I would just cancel the booking ahead of time so my rooms don't get blocked - if not busy, I don't worry too much - and if they turn up it is a bonus.  But they rarely have.  If they turn up, always verbally ask for Govt ID.  I have a space on the registration form where they wrote their ID number and I always sited it to make sure correct.  That was pre-COVID.  Now I get as much detail as I can before they arrive and fill in the form myself.  I still site ID and note the details.  I do not think there is a place for verifying ID on either booking.com or on agoda.

Be very careful of large bookings made on any of these OTAs, as I believe some of the scammers are now using them.  I would never charge the full amount to the card ahead of time - just charge $1 (or your currency) to check if the card will work, but then do not charge the full amount until the cancellation period when they cannot ask you to refund.  Otherwise you may be caught up in a scam.

Hi Kidim, we are getting bookings from this address as well and each booking we have received, we have run card details and every single one is call card company/declined, it seems to us that these people are booking for stays over 1 week taking up our inventory and simply not showing up. In my opinion I think this is intentional and have asked booking.com to please look into Agoda as we have never had good luck with guests booking on Agoda thru booking.com. I just thought maybe if anyone else is also having these kinda issues please write a comment with your experience. Thanks:)

AGODA - but via Booking.com - contact Booking.com and tell them you will cancel the booking unless you hear from the guest directly and they provide their own contact details.

I've just had a booking with this address I thought it looked dodgy and the guy was asking for smoking which is not an option in the UK now so i searched the address and the prudential tower on cecil street is in singapore as far as i can tell not bangkok the prudential tower in bangkok is on sathorn road not cecil street.

I think its actually agodas office address and they are scam bookings to make it look like they are passing bookings on to booking.com but really they are fake.... well that is what i deduced from 10 mins searching but funny enough agoda are part of the same booking holdings group as booking.com which makes it very strange

I had three different bookings at my motel with this address. 30 08 PRUDENTIAL TOWER,  10 CECIL ST BANGKOK, N/A   it also shows origin is United States.  It is odd and suspicious.  They do not reply.  We will not run their credit card until they arrive.  They do not arrive, I do not run their credit card it is declined.  Booking.com  needs to flag such bookings

My business policy is to have a valid guest address on registration that matches their Identification.  Just good business policy, more secure and insurance requirement.

This is very interesting. We just had a same day booking due to a cancellation (incidentily from another booking.com reservation) and this address of 30 08 Prudential Tower, 19 Cecil St bangkok N came up. The guests showed up, the card worked and they said they put in their correct address. Sounds like a back end database problem @ Booking.com

I have 5 people with this address who where ALL No Show,s. Last booking yesterday.

Question is : If it was only a problem with the data base - where are all the different names, different languages, different phone numbers come from- and why are they All No Show,s. Does not make sense either. Booking.com should refuse this address automatically, after so many people have raised the issue.

I have the same problem. Some people booked my place today for an arrival time tomorrow (for 3 nights). They gave a wrong phone number and are NOT answering to my numerous mails. I sent a mail to the support Booking.com. As they nerver answer before 24hours... I do not know what will happen. The problem is that my contact has reserved the day tomorrow to come on site and welcome this people…

THIS IS Aa NIGHTMARE  - i have repeatedly asked book com to canx - ie covid areas restriction in fine print  - and i have a pregnant daughter and son working in the care industry  - so to accept would  put us in high risk and other s which I ma unwilling to do - yet booking com are trying to insist we take the booki g or pay for relocation - this is deplorable

For book com still  trying to exert their  control over me for less than a £ 100 and then chg me to re locate !! is madness 

the card is declined - 

the phone number does not exist 

no zip code to process the card 

i a, stressed beyond belief , they have not even bothered to look  at the threads on here and take action around this  , *** - is not priocesseable or contactable - the term agoda - interesting , a god a - I think not .

We got many bookings from this address. Some of them checked in and some of them went NO Show. We just received 2 bookings with 5 rooms each for the end of this month. No idea whether they are going to show up or it will be a No Show. The saddest part is there is no way to communicate the guest.

Yes, same problem here in BRAZIL countryside (far... far away from bangkok, isn't it???).

It's very strange, but it blocks my rooms :-(

It means it is a booking through the Agoda website, but it actually comes through as a b.com. Agoda is based in Bangkok and the phone number will be the agoda number in your country

The booking is made through AGODA.  They have a policy of not providing any details for the guest, and they never answer their phones or emails.  I ditched them years ago because I got sick of guests turning up at 2am and fairly belting down the (closed) motel door or making such a noise they woke every other guest.  It is always impossible to contact them.  So now Agoda books via their partner Booking.com.  I received a booking today - again with no details - only Agoda. I have sent a message to the guest but doubt that she will get it, so I have contacted Booking.com on the intranet and asked them to make sure the guest is contacted - and get a working Australian mobile for me, or her booking may be voided.  It is not the fault of the guest.  I am pretty certain they provided their contact details in the Agoda booking.

Just received the 5th booking from the same address "*** " in Thailand and all of them where No Shows, unfortunately I have some other addresses from all over the world who where also no shows. This is so annoying and costly.

I can pick some of them because they give mismatching names and numbers etc.  For example this one.

Name= ***

Country= ***

Language= Polish

Ph.nr= Ukraine

Something needs to be done , this is driving me nuts.

I have the same problem.

I got one reservation for this Agoda group in Bangkok but its impossible contact them. I've tried message in booking, email, SMS, even call them but the number doesnt work. I dont know what can I do.

I had two week long bookings from two Iraqis.  Both from th Agoda subsidary. I was suspicious because of what I had read on this thread so contacted booking.com.

I was assured that the bookings were genuine and had been paid for so waited. Just received cancellations from both within an hour of each other this evening. 

What is going on and what do they get out of it?? The world gets weirder daily.

What they hope for is that someone will charge their credit card.  Once that card is charged, they then cancel and ask for a refund but the card they used before has been cancelled so you have to credit to a different account.  Once they receive that credit, they then tell the bank where the first card came from that the large charge to that card was fraudulent and from a country they have never visited.  Then you loose all that money that you have already refunded.  It is a gigantic scam a lot of people have been caught up in and now because a lot of accommodation places are wise to it, they try to go via the OTAs in the hope of catching them out.   Also, they probably think it fun that they have stopped you from booking those rooms out for a considerable time!!

One way to get them to cancel more quickly is to send a message and tell them that for such a large booking you will require a non-refundable deposit paid by Direct Deposit within a certain time.  You will see the cancellation come thru a little faster :)

You're all very lucky having "No shows"!

My guest showed up using this 30 08 Prudential Tower address.

They robbed me blind - took table lamps, all the bedding, clocks, vacuum cleaners, slate place mats etc.

I am absolutely gutted

We have had these - some no shows, some do turn up. I don't know how this works with agoda - we do not list with them, but I see they have lifted our hotel info from our b.com listing, but some of it is out of date or no longer correct
