Late arrivals!!!

Hi guys,

Sometimes guests do not arrive at our property the time they have stated in their reservation...

Being hospitable, we wait for them even if they come late in the night...

Do you think that we should charge extra for late arrivals???

Thanks for sharing your experiences and thoughts...

HI Maria,

Usually such a charge is only for Hotels or some Motels/B&B with multiple rooms, were you are paying staff.

Its also more common in countries like America versus Europe.

I think its a cultural thing too.

Of course its entirely up to you.

You  might charge an extra eur25 for late arrivals. As to how you then accept payment, wil then be the next challenge, cash only or no cash, only card payment.

I would ask the questions is it worth the hassle of having to then take direct payment, if you do not already have a method for card payments. Or happy to take cash payments.

If I remember right you have a mobile internet service device,
that could be paired with a WiFi enabled PoS such as what SumUp offer.

Kind Regards.

Dear Barry,

Always right to the point. Thanks for your analytical comments...

You have given me the answers I was seeking for...

Actually I don’t  charge and don’t like extra charges...but I would like to know what other partners think about it.

Thanks again for helping me.

I don't feel that charging is a good idea. You never know the reason (maybe it is because of the flight), so you enter in a bad mood with the guest on their first night.

We have a little safe for the keys right in the main entrance, I open all lights and text the guests so they know they can call if any issue. I did not have any call so far.

Then, next day in the morning I pass by to see them and make sure everything is alright.

I only charge if they want a super early checkin, or super late checkout.

Good morning Miguel,

A safe for the keys in the main entrance is a very good idea but if I may ask... how do guests  get in the main entrance and where do they find the keys of the safe???
