Mixing two platforms - a good idea?
Hello everyone,
Do you think working with two platforms - e.g Booking and the other big one ;), is a good idea? I cannot help but dwell on this topic as it does make sense. That is, of course, not considering any bad impact on algorithms I am not aware of.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on this.
Kris
Some of us use multiple platforms - yes, it's worth doing - you will need to sync the calendars, but bear in mind that the Booking.com calendar sync is broken, so always block dates manually
Thank you for replying - so the sync happens manually on Booking and automatically on the other platform, is this correct? Is there any third party software which does the sync for me?
Kris
Yes - calendar sync is automatic on the other platforms and you would expect Booking.com calendar sync to be automatic too, but it's broken, so you have to block manually to prevent double bookings
Some hosts / partners recommend channel manager software - I have built my own system (very basic) so I don't know which channel manager software will be best for you
"I have built my own system (very basic)" - can you expand abit more on this please?
I don’t use channel manager...I prefer to have control of my bookings.
I only have one Studio so I can manage...if you have more properties then you probably need a channel manager or be a tech savvy like Isle is and build your own system.
Isle, is it very difficult to build such a system???
I will get familiar with what a channel manager is - thank you both Maria and Isle

Dr. Rob,
In your Extranet App Store tab you can find many suggestions for channel managers...
Maybe you should have a look.
Dear Dr. Rob, massive pleasure..
If you find a good solution please give us feedback.
Wish you well.
Thank you, I will
It is said that Booking.com will "love" you more if you let him do all the work (I mean if you let him make all the reservations for you) :), but I don't know is that true. Probably it is. :)
But if you know that some other OTA channel (Online Travel Agency) is working fine for your region, you should definitely use it and not depend on Booking.com only.
There are hundreds of channels like Booking.com (Airbnb, Expedia, TripAdvisor, HomeAway, etc, etc, etc)
But if you start using a lot of other channels and you have more than 4-5 units to sell, you will definitely need a channel manager (you deal with availability, prices, etc there, not on each channel separately, because if you do it manually for each channel, you will forget some one day and get double bookings for sure)
good idea to mix two it's really perfect. during travel have many connection issues so I have downloader that help me to download best for my time pass during travel.
