no-show
hi, recently I just disable booking.com because of 2 reasons.
1. double booking twice, problem with not properly calendar sync
2. bigger problem with guests booking then no-show, this happened 100% in January and Feb 2020. it really ruined my business because I only have 2 houses. this had never happened before, anyone has same problem?

1. Calendar sync has never been a true real time sync, so just don't even try to. Alternatively use a Channel manager service such as beds24.com to do so when using 2 or more OTA.
2. Yes it can be common for many. Which is why have a strict cancelation policy and or non refundable rates is a must. and standing firm when a cancelation waiver is requested
You can also try EffectiveTours.com with low pricing.
As barry said stricter policies.. taking prepayments, deposits, authorizing credit cards etc...
Booking.com calendar sync is broken - it doesn't sync properly. See the dozens of other replies I've posted about this.
Yes, loads and loads and loads of people post about fake bookings, no shows etc. And I reply again and again and again on this.
The only solution to prevent fake bookings and no-shows is to take payment at the time of booking, just as you would with AirBnB / TripAdvisor / HomeAway. Ask Booking.com to set up Payments by Booking.com. If they refuse to do this or it is not available in your country, switch to another OTA such as AirBnB / TripAdvisor / HomeAway or whatever else. Do not try to make an indequate system work - it won't.

No-shows, cancellations....too much of a problem...
Even when you have strict policies cancellations never stop....
Fake booking i felt, but who or what want to do that?
Some guests use reservations to get a visa card!!!
