Put your destination on the map and attract more travellers

We're inviting partners to join our Ambassador Programme and help bring awareness to your destination via Travel Communities. This is a platform for travellers to ask questions, give tips and connect.

This program is an opportunity to put your local destination on the map and shape how people explore the place you call home. Answer questions from community members, give insider tips and bring the travel community closer together.

Are you ready to inspire someone’s next great memory? See if this sounds like you:

  • You're a local expert and storyteller who loves sharing insights with people from around the world
  • You love sharing knowledge and are open to collaborating with the Travel Communities Team to improve travel experiences
  • You’d like to get recognition for your expertise with invitations to special events and a members-only group

Sign up here – the Travel Communities Team will be in touch.

We already do this outside of BDC ....

Looking at the BDC Travel Communities, it's full of "bargain hunters" ..... "want somewhere to stay low budget" ... "low budget" .... "low budget" ....

Many BDC guests have negative experiences because of all the bugs and problems with BDC .... is this why BDC are asking hosts/partners to "improve travel experiences"?

Hi @Isle of Wight Vacations, thanks for your question! The aim for Travel Communities is a space for all types of travellers to talk about their upcoming traveling, get travel information, sharing local knowledge, and recommendations when visiting a city or destination. The travel improvements mentioned above are related to things such as things to do, what not to miss when visiting a city, practical information for first timers, or even places to stay. We wanted share that here in the Partner Community that there's a community of travellers on Booking.com that is interested in connecting with locals and our ambassadors are there to carry the conversation on how to help a traveler when they are planning a trip.

The Travel Communities don't seem to work in the way you're hoping - it's mostly bargain hunters, people asking for somewhere cheap to stay ........

Hmmmm, we also already do this and YES all these platforms are dominated by bargain hunters, the other content gets drowned!

  • You're a local expert and storyteller who loves sharing insights with people from around the world
  • You love sharing knowledge and are open to collaborating with the Travel Communities Team to improve travel experiences
  • You’d like to get recognition for your expertise with invitations to special events and a members-only group

It's a nice thought but as already stated won't work that way in reality. Possibly if it was made clear that no figures were allowed to be quoted or asked for, with such posts being automatically deleted and repeat offenders blocked? (No harm in self promotion in the form of "we have the best/only/biggest/etc.)

Keep the platform strictly to your outlined format and just maybe, it'll be worth a go.

@fluff (new account). Thanks for your input. I'm curious to hear which other community platforms you are involved in.

Irada, there are thousands and thousands of community platforms for local tourism and accommodation - too many to count - and the same things happen everywhere - they are full of people wanting cheap, cheap, cheap. And sure, some hosts/partners (often the same ones over and over) will reply "I have a place, I'll do you a deal" - but that means simply earning less.

If you really want to improve guest experiences, fix the broken BDC systems.

If you really want to increase booking levels, fix the broken BDC systems.

If you really want to increase earnings for hosts/partners and for BDC, fix the broken BDC systems.

You only need to look through this community to see the vast number of complaints from hosts/partners - it's the same issues again and again and again - and BDC do nothing. Only a tiny number of unhappy hosts/partners will complain - the vast majority just give up and switch to one of the other OTAs like AirBnB / VRBO / TripAdvisor.
