Rules for guests

Dear Madam/Sir,

I have a question as a host. I had a client, who reserved for 2 persons 2 nights. However when I cleaned the appartement it was quite visible that there has been held a party or stayed more than two persons.

What are my rights as a host in this case? Can I charged extra?

What are my rights for such upcomming events? Can I install the camera?

bet regards,

Lauma

Hello Lauma,

I would recommend ensuring your house rules are set up correctly. Here are some handy tips to follow.

You could look at setting up a damage deposit. Please note that Booking.com cannot collect damage deposits on your behalf so you will need to arrange this directly with your guests.

A damage deposit is a set amount that a guest pays either before or on arrival, which is refunded if there is no damage to the property.

Booking.com cannot collect damage deposit payments from guests on your behalf. Instead, you need to arrange this directly with guests according to your house rules.

Note: it is no longer possible to share information about damage deposits in ‘The fine print’ section of your profile.

To set up your damage deposit, just follow the steps below:

  1. Log on to the extranet and select the ‘Property’ tab.
  2. Click on ‘Policies’, scroll down to 'Other Policies' section, then  ‘Damage deposit’ and click on ‘Edit’.
  3. A pop-up window will appear where you can make adjustments.
  4. Click 'Save' at the bottom of the page when you’re done.

Remember: A damage deposit is fully refundable, subject to a damage inspection of the property.

Hope this helps. :)
