Some foreign people don't understand what self-contained is and the last thing I want to do is seeing a guest leave unhappy with an empty stomach. But anyway, often people like a little extra like milk, or some prefer just a few slices of brown bread. Milk is not digested well by everyone, for some, it's a treat and others simply don't care. Home-made yoghurt and farm milk from the cow - all grass based, no hormones used, people admire a lot. Eggs are a good one too. I have tried to make waffles also gluten free with a small waffle maker, and they looked and tasted amazing too. My grandson can't have gluten, egg and dairy and managed to create a waffle with oat milk and grapeseed oil or coconut oil, coconut sugar grinded it in the coffee grinder, and added egg replacer. And it worked, very yummy! There are alternatives. It took some extra effort but got it now. Worth trying. Enjoy all your guests and your breakfast preparations! If are marketing your rooms as more on the inexpensive side, I assume a continental breakfast suits the budget conscious. If you are charging alot I think the extra touches makes sense. We have not had anyone ask for any items that are restricted to their diet. On the other hand you have lots of other considerations , Vegan, Vegetarian, Halal and Kosher. In my wife's family we have Seven Day Adventist- No pork products. She also has Hindu and its strict vegetarian. Since she is from Jamaica we can make Ackees and Salt cod, fried plantain etc which is a cultural experience. This I would do with lots of communication in advance. We serve local meats, one of our suppliers has given us a coupon to give to our guests. If they purchase meat from him, he gives us a discount. The bacon is quite good. Pancakes, waffles, muffins and such are made from scratch. We never know what people are going to eat. One year no one ate yogurt, the next year a lot of people did.
